    Default Aldi snow chains

Some people who go to Hotham may be interested to read this official email I got from Hotham last year.

    Good Afternoon Paul,

We are not sure where you have received your information regarding Aldi chains, as Mount Hotham Resort Management has never approved these products. Aldi chains do not comply with the Chain Determination that VicRoads, Mt Hotham RMB and Victoria Police have put in place for Mt Hotham.

We appreciate your feedback and would love to hear where you received the information that we have approved Aldi chains?

    Kind regards,

    Brenna Sharp

Do they have Aldi logos on the chains? I've never had my car looked at to see what brand of chains I had on.

Like everything Aldi sells for snow use, they may have the brand Crane on them but not Aldi.

Another snow website has so many people saying they are buying these chains for use at Hotham, and can't see why they would be banned and also say that the authorities at Hotham can't legally enforce such a ban, I have looked at a set myself and I can't see why they would be either, but I am not the one making the rules.

The Hotham RMB, police etc are sure to look at this years Aldi chains and make a decision, I think they should look at a few other brands also, when I registered a commercial bus for snow use, a few years back, the taxi directorate insisted on Rud or Konig brand chains, so govt bodies can and do regulate on a brand of chain.

They have gone one step further now and want all chains to comply with the "O" Norm 5117 standard https://www.tirechain.com/ONORM.html

Be annoying for those that have used chains for years that don't conform to this standard unless it has always been there.
    Do it the snow way!
