  The wait for the new season is over. Treble Cone Ski Area will open for the 2017 season on

Over the next two weeks, visitors to Mt Baw Baw will have the opportunity to experience a white Christmas with the mountain transforming into a Christmas wonderland, with decorated Christmas tree, carols and round-the-clock activities.

Snowatch has been confidently talking up a large snow bearing system due the first week of July for two weeks now and it looks like coming off (with a still a week before it gets to us). Perfect time for school holidays and we are likely to see a lot more terrain open….

We are already well into June and approaching July and there is virtually no cover in the resorts away from the man made areas. With a warm spell continuing that should come to an end this weekend the snow makers haven’t been able to pump out snow like they did prior to the season when we had a run of very cold clear nights. Even the man made cover has diminished over the last week.

With temps being a bit warm over in NZ the opening of Treble Cone which was to be this Friday is now postponed until they can either make snow or natural snow falls. Below is the official release:

There is a low pressure system currently sitting to the south west of WA that is looking like it could bring the goods just in time for the official opening.

With only a week and a half until the official opening of Season 2017 it’s time to take a look at what we currently have and what’s in store for the early part of the season.
