It's just under a month until the official opening and already Mt.Buller have been pumping out snow from their snow factory, building piles of snow that will later be spread across Bourke St.

At the moment we see a quite normal pattern for this time of year with large dominating high pressure systems revloving around the southern hemisphere, although they are a little further south than I'd like. We will need these to shift further north as we get closer to season opening to allow some cold air to reach the mainland.

Temps are still quite mild in the resorts and we will need a drop for the snow makers to get started in a couple weeks time.

Overnight temps look like dropping below zero around the 15th to 19th so we could see some of the resorts firing up the snow guns to create a base layer.

Long range we could see a nice cool change around the 23rd-24th that could possibly drop some snow after some showers at the head of this stystem. It's possible we could also see some snowmaking once the cooler air arrives across the 24th-25th.

Further ahead another cold change around the 1st-3rd could see some light snow falling. Long range a stronger system due around the 12th-13th could get things moving with a moderate fall of snow.
