<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>NEW FOR 2019:</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://mountbawbaw.com.au/toboggan-snow-play"><strong>A refreshed toboggan experience</strong></a></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While other Australian ski resorts have banned tobogganing, Mt Baw Baw is fully embracing it. Located in the heart of the Village, Frosti Frog Hollow Toboggan Park is guaranteed to be covered in snow on Opening Weekend (8-9 June) with a dedicated snow machine pumping new dumps on the popular slope daily. Australia’s first downhill ski resort to have a Magic Carpet lift on the toboggan park, the return journey no longer means a strenuous struggle back up the hill. Access to the Magic Carpet and Toboggan Park is $10 per day, or covered by the cost of a lift pass.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Official Snowball Fights</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Tapping into the popular Japanese trend, Mt Baw Baw will become the first alpine resort in Australia to offer organised snowball fights when it launches its National Snowball Fighting Championship this season. Using International Yukigassen Rules, snowfighters are encouraged to enter with a group of friends or family in a bid to take home the trophy. Lessons and snowball fighting sessions will take place throughout the July school holidays and during peak periods, with the Championship scheduled for 14-15 September.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Free 15 minute snowboarding sessions for kids</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Littlies who want to dip a toe in the snow before diving right in can experience a taster snowboarding lesson for free. The ‘Come and Try’ sessions are available for children under six and are designed to let them get a feel for the board before committing to a full three or six hour session.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>BACK FOR 2019:</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://mountbawbaw.com.au/dingo-resource-centre"><strong>Meet the Dingoes</strong></a></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rowdy and Warragul are set to experience their second full winter on the mountain as the star attractions at Mt Baw Baw’s NUTRO™ Dingo Resource Centre. Rowdy (ginger fur) is an alpine/desert dingo cross and Warragul (light fur) is 100% Alpine Dingo. Meet the Dingoes sessions and talks are available throughout the season. The centre also offers the chance to learn about the critically endangered Baw Baw Frog, Leadbeater&#8217;s Possum and other local flora and fauna.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://mountbawbaw.com.au/howling-huskys"><strong>Howling Husky experiences</strong></a></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jump on board a dogsled led by eight huskies for an alpine experience like no other. Ranging in length from 30 minutes to four hours (the longest commercial dog sled trail in Australia), the tours weave through the mountainous terrain, amongst the snow gums and onto open plateaus. Those who prefer to do the hiking themselves can don a pair of snowshoes and harness themselves to a retired husky for a One Hour Day Tour or Two Hour Sunset Tour with Powder Pup Snowshoe Tours.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="877" height="1024" src="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_High-Res_-Huskies-877x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3352" srcset="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_High-Res_-Huskies-877x1024.jpg 877w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_High-Res_-Huskies-257x300.jpg 257w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_High-Res_-Huskies-768x896.jpg 768w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_High-Res_-Huskies-1200x1401.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 877px) 100vw, 877px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Free kids club</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kids of all ages are invited to take part in Mt Baw Baw’s free kids club during the July school holidays as parents spread their wings and relax. The dedicated carers will enthrall the kids with a range of activities including arts, crafts, movies and snowball fights.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="744" src="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_Families_10-1024x744.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3353" srcset="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_Families_10-1024x744.jpg 1024w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_Families_10-300x218.jpg 300w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_Families_10-768x558.jpg 768w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Mt-Baw-Baw_Families_10-1200x872.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We have are nearly at the end of the school holidays for the Victorian kids and in the middle for the NSW. We have a fantastic weekend of sunshine coming up and the crowds will no doubt flock to the mountains and make the most of the fantastic mid July conditions. Enjoy while it lasts as next week will be a totally different scenario with snow on the way.</p>
<p>Monday should see the clouds start to move in and we could see some light snow showers at times, nothing to get too excited about. Early Tuesday should see the winds start to pick up and clouds will increase during the day in the Victorian resorts with snow starting to fall in the afternoon. Snowfalls are then likely to increase into the night and then extend into the NSW resorts with blizzard conditions overnight and carrying into Wednesday as the snow level drops a little with snowfalls extending throughout the mountains. Wind chill will be well into the double figure negatives about the peaks so if you are on the hills then make sure you dress appropriately. To the parents of kids racing in interschools competitions that have to stand around and wait for races it&#8217;s a good idea to add an extra layer underneath for yourselves and the kids.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_2430" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2430" style="width: 819px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2430 size-full" title="snow on the way" src="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/short-term-outlook-14-07-18.png" alt="" width="819" height="677" srcset="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/short-term-outlook-14-07-18.png 819w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/short-term-outlook-14-07-18-300x248.png 300w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/short-term-outlook-14-07-18-768x635.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2430" class="wp-caption-text"><em>After a sunny weekend things take a turn next week.</em></figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Snow showers should continue on and off across Thursday and Friday before clearing. The resorts look like being left with around 20-35cm with the <a href="https://www.snowatch.com.au/15-day-forecasts/falls-creek/">Falls Creek</a> and <a href="https://www.snowatch.com.au/15-day-forecasts/hotham/">Hotham</a> likely to do best.</p>
<p>To those on the slopes have a great week, take care, keep warm and always ski/board with a partner as visibility will be low.</p>
<p>Chains will more than likely be needed around the Victorian resorts late on Tuesday and then throughout the mountains in NSW and VIC on Wednesday morning. Throw a tarp and some old gloves in with the chains so you stay dry and your fingers don&#8217;t freeze.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_2432" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2432" style="width: 960px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2432 size-full" title="jindabyne traffic" src="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/jindy-traffic.jpg" alt="jindabyne traffic" width="960" height="584" srcset="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/jindy-traffic.jpg 960w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/jindy-traffic-300x183.jpg 300w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/jindy-traffic-768x467.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2432" class="wp-caption-text"><em>With fine weekends forecasts there will be the usual traffic bottlenecks like this one at Jindabyne.</em></figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Of course the great news is that the snow will eventually clear later in the week and we should be in for another cracker of a weekend with <a href="https://www.snowatch.com.au/15-day-forecasts/">blue skies forecast</a>. Crowds will be up again next weekend making the most of the fresh snow.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_2433" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2433" style="width: 796px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2433 size-full" title="snow on the way" src="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/the-next-week-14-07-18.png" alt="" width="796" height="365" srcset="https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/the-next-week-14-07-18.png 796w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/the-next-week-14-07-18-300x138.png 300w, https://www.snowatch.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/the-next-week-14-07-18-768x352.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 796px) 100vw, 796px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2433" class="wp-caption-text"><em>The coming weeks outlook.</em></figcaption></figure></p>
