Default What's New in Thredbo for 2014

Thredbo has some exciting news for winter 2014. With new on-mountain developments and exciting new products & pricing there is something to suit everyone - first timers, seasoned pros and especially families - to ensure they have the most enjoyable snow holiday.

    ON MOUNTAIN DEVELOPMENTS

    New Snow Play Area
Thredbo will be developing a snow play area for winter 2014. This is a great addition to village that is famous for its BIG list of other things to do and now there is much more. Located at the base of the mountain near the Valley Terminal tennis courts visitors can now slide on a toboggan, ride a snow tube, build a snowman and just generally play in the snow. There will be new snow guns installed to the area so there is always, when possible a fresh supply of the white stuff.

    New Super Terrain Park
Thredbo will be developing a massive terrain park for the coming season. Located on the lower half of Australia's longest run - The Supertrail - the terrain park will provide skiers and boarders with a longer more diverse park providing more room to create new and exciting features. It will be perfect for those looking to build their terrain park skill set.

    New moguls course in Thredbo
Introducing a new purpose built permanent mogul course so those who like to mix it up on the mountain can take on the challenge of the new course. There are new snowmaking fan guns to ensure the best possible conditions.

Making snow holidays for families even more affordable.

Kids Ski Free is back but it's better than ever
The popular Kids Ski Free product is back. Which is massive considering that children are now classified as aged 17 years and under. MORE WAYS TO SAVE

Buy Early & Save - 7 days in advance
To incentivise and reward early bookings our Buy Early & Save promotion is back in winter 2014. However there are some changes to the structure. It now only applies to purchases made 7 days in advance of booking. The saving by booking 7 days in advance are not fixed to 10% (it depends on the product). In some cases the buy early savings can be as high as 20%. Please refer to the product for the full discount.

Plenty of good things there but I think the biggest positive in the kids now being 17 and under instead of 14 and under in previous years. This is a massive saving for parents.

Also about time they had a toboggan area, will obviously rely on snowmaking down the bottom.

You would think all budget projections had been done ages ago on the existing price scheme so wouldn't think they could change at such short notice (unless they already knew a while ago of Thredbo's plans).

The new chair must have cost a lot so I doubt a reduction in ticket prices would have been in the budget forecasts, but you never know.
