Post Question: Skidoo rental rates in tahoe

Is $490US a good price to rent 3 skidoos for 3 hours?

    depends.

    * on the cc (the bigger the better)
    * whether they are the ones with heated handle grips. (best thing ever!)
    * whether it includes the go-go juice
    * whether you get a complementary snow bunny with each rental....

Its an all inclusive 'cash business' price operating near Truckee

They say they use Polaris RMKs capable of 100 mph with heated handles.

The rates seem nice eg $US900 for 3 sleds fo6 6 hours (and kids under 12 ride free).

But Hairfarmer's snowbomb freinds have a voucher for (iirc) $275-$300 pp for a full day's backcountry cat skiing around Squaw Valley. That's more my cup of tea. Or there's folks selling them for peanuts who I suspect will gladly rent them out cheap for extra cash before re-listing them for sale

I been looking around to hire a Skidoo for half a day or so

Although I was maybe thinking on a guided tour as I have no local knowledge

If you spot any good deals Vet let me know and I shall let you know as well.

PM me your email and I'll send you an email I received. Its a personal tour of your family only. Eg 1 sled 6 hours $325US. 2 vsleds 2 hours $240 ie $120each = $60 each per hour. 3 sleds 1 hour $340 in total.

They run thru some state park near Truckee (and Truckee is 15 miles from Squaw Valley I think)

You sign the usual waivers but there's insurance if you hit another snowmobiler. (Does that mean both are covered if 2 skidoos hit each other????)

I doubt travel insurance covers it, but I don't know. I have no intention of going 100mph anyway.

So far it looks cheap enough

They are very helpful. Being small, the tours are more personalised, ie you're not in a group of strangers with different ideas on where to go

Make sure they knew that guy from the ski club plugges them. I want businesses on a short-list that can turn members' ski holidays into an adventure. We've got a decent number with Epic Passes heading over to Tahoe to 'max out' the value on the Epic passes.

Besides these cheap 'no ski saturday' season passes mean I have to find something to do on Saturdays.

Wait till you get it going...... you will try, I guarantee it

100kmh is pretty easy to get to without trying, 100mph will depend on the sled, snow conditions and how rugged up you and your tackle are
    Whatever!
