I thought it was worth giving our accommodation at Thredbo a rap as we are so rarely pleased by our lodgings there. Squatters Run was fabulous - our 1 bedroom apartment was spacious (even with the 3 y/o on a fold-out in our bedroom), clean, well maintained and kitted out with everything we needed. The managers were friendly (not all that common in Thredbo IMHO) and helpful. It was apparent that these apartments are managed with a personal touch, not just by an anonymous reservation service. It was expensive even by Thredbo standards, but we would be happy to pay to stay there again as we simply found it the complete package - you can't ask for a better location.
Then there was the dump/s of snow we got while we were there, how lucky was that? Even the wind couldn't keep us off the mountain, although it often blew us off the top of it. The snow quality was awesome and we covered as much terrain as we could access given the limited lift openings. Also had a terrific lunch at Kareela Hutte (mmmm kransky) followed by a very careful ski down the Supertrail after a bevvy or two.
The 3 y/o had her first taste of skiing and we have the most wonderful video of her first 'run' on Friday Flat. Of course being 3 she is a complete natural and managed to complete a run without falling on her first day. The clip of her squealing with delight was enough to warm us through the wind chill. We put her into ski school for a day - and she ended up having a great time and learned to snow plow, but we couldn't bear to repeat it as the feeling of having abandoned her just made me cry too much :( Luckily we were with friends who conveniently brought grandparents with them and they were happy to mind our 3 y/o with their 2 y/o, so all had a brilliant time.
All in all ...we can't wait till next season

Nice report. Thredbo is a magic place at any time, but those evenings when the snow is falling are special.
I did a pint at Merritts and a run down Dream Run for my second last of the day yesterday.
The last of course was all 5 of us (after getting the youngest out of Thredboland) and the boys (who had been hanging around Funnel Web) doing a run down Racecourse (to the left of Snowgums mid station). My 5 year old daughter scared the s*** out of me with her kamikaze attitude towards Racecourse.
CheersGGGGGGGGGranville, ffffffetch your cloth
