Carruthers 11 Nov 2011
After having pretty bad weather out Club Lake a couple of weeks ago I decided to have another go at finishing off the Oz ski season on Friday. Seeing that the forecast was for great weather I decided to take a day off and headed down to Jindy Thursday night.
Got up early Friday and headed out from Charlotte at 7.00am. The weather was beautiful and the Snowy was nice and easy to cross…

Absolute spring feel with some of the alpine flowers out in full bloom…

Just after crossing the Snowy I ran in to a couple of young girls coming back down the hill and it was obviously a very different story the day before, they tried to cross the river but said it was over waist deep after all the rain and they had to turn back and set up camp instead.
Was up top of Carruthers just after 8.30am and was happy to see that there was still plenty of snow around. Got the ski boots on, had some food and enjoyed the scenery for a while before heading down for the first run…

Going for the first run down the Elevator it was pretty clear that it was absolutely bullet proof after the last few days of rain and the clear cool night before. The heavy rain and then freezing conditions over night made it like skiing down a wash board. Pretty fun but hard to hit it with too much speed. Had a few runs while it was still out of the sun and then had a well deserved break…

Went for a walk over to the Mt Lee area and back and then had some lunch waiting for it to soften up a bit and to take some shots…

After lunch it was all nice and soft and I had a few more runs before deciding to call it a day.
Walked back to Charlotte and trove the 5 hours or so back home and did thoroughly enjoy a few beers when back home.
