How about Atomic Nomad Blackeye Ti skis with bindings.
My price is $745 or $678 GST exempt if traveling, including mounting of bindings.

Or pay US $799 plus $100+ shipping and add another $25 for binding mounting, again why buy online from the states these days, that is well over $200 difference for a set of skis with an overseas warranty.

Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
I was just doing a check of my prices compared to overseas websites and in particular Skidepot.com
It seems that I am currently around $200 cheaper than their sale price on the same skis.
Take for example the Fischer Motive 80 with bindings, a great skis for here and overseas.
http://www.paulski.com.au/snow-skis/...cher-motive-80
my price is $729 and if bought within 30 days of traveling overseas they are then only$663 as you get the GST back, that price includes binding mounting and has a local warranty.
Skidepot.com have them at $799.99 plus shipping of over $100 plus binding mounting of $25 and your warranty is with Skidepot in the States.

I am also hearing that with the current exchange rate our ski prices next year will be pretty well the same or cheaper than websites like skidepot for Rec retail prices and if taking shipping and binding mounting into account we will certainly see a big move away from people buying skis from overseas.
To add to that generally we get the skis here 6 months ahead of the USA, so apart from those wanting a ski not sold here, I think buying skis from overseas will soon be a thing of the past.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
If shopping around it pays for one to also know their skis and how they may have changed over the years.
If you want a ski that is not one but 2 models earlier, that deal is OK, but that model you have linked too is way over priced in my opinion as it doesn't even have early rise, and I am fairly sure it is before they went back to wood core, I skied on one of that model and it was a dog.
if comparing try to find me a current 2012 model, not a 2 year old 2010 model.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
Atomic went to early rise tips when the Blackeye went up in width to 82mm. The graphics on the model shown have been used on a number of Atomics but with the first wider ski they were on the non Ti model that was a wood core. The price quoted by Paul is significantly less than I paid a couple of seasons ago for the early rise model at about $1050 with bindings fitted and adjusted, when the $ was worth a lot less. I like these skis for untracked snow and they run nicely on the hardpack where I still much prefer a narrow waisted slalom ski like the RC4s for their incisive carving and effortless top end.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
I think by now all the local retailers are doing what they can to compete with overseas shops while the Aus$ is so high, most of the importers are up to speed on what is required, but a few are still sticking with their old ways, I am happy to say the ones I deal with most are on the ball.
I think for most brands skis and snowboards will be very close to the same price as you would find in the USA for next season, only we will have them 6 months ahead of the states, the other interesting thing is in the states, the retailers can be controlled legally regards prices, and are expected to stay within 10% of Rec retail for most of the season, that price control is illegal in Aus, so it may be possible to get skis at quite a low price, long before they drop low overseas.
Clothing is going to be the interesting one, China bought up most of the world cotton supply and with fast rising wages in China and larger order sizes required now for any one model and colour to be produced, prices will certainly rise for next year and most likely see a lot less range to pick from.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
I was glad to hear that Perisher may have sold 15,000 Freedom Passes and Hotham enjoyed a spike in sales of Hero Passes this week. (Buller's sp doesn't go on sale yet). A lot more regular skiers will need ski gear, and that's good.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
I thought I would jump in here and let you guys know that we have considerably reduced the pricing of our 2012/13 range of skis that will be instore for next season from both Salomon and Atomic. There is a whole range of reasons why we have done this but the main reason is to give Australian consumers/retailers an equal playng field when it comes to buying skis on a global scale. In most cases we have reduced the retail price by as much as 20% for skis and snowboards.
So what I will say is that you will be able to purchase a model of ski that is a season ahead of our Northern counterparts for the same MSRP as they are sold for in the U.S or online.
And too Vet above, from my understanding Perisher have sold 3,000 passes, not 15,000.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
I have noticed most of the importers have reduced prices significantly for next year, are you sure this is not just due to the high Australian dollar rather than a new strategy from Amer.
I do think it is about time we were able to get much closer to suggested prices in the USA, hopefully this will be without cutting the already thin margins to retailers, who are struggling to sell skis at a profit in recent seasons.
I would also have to ask, if you can do it for skis and snowboards, why not also for boots and bindings, and maybe Arcteryx clothing as it is so much cheaper overseas than here, not trying to stir trouble here, but your answer could be interesting.

Re: Cheaper to buy here than overseas.
I did find out that Amer are not the ones importing Arcteryx clothing into Australia so they have no control over the prices, it would be nice if they did bring it in themselves and then drop the price of it.
Ski boots are close enough to the same price as they are overseas, so no real need to drop them any lower, and inline with the drop in ski prices, the bindings that go with them have also been reduced, so for next season pricing should look good, the test for the future is what will happen when the Aussie $ goes back down in value.
