I tune mine tip to tail on a daily basis with a diamond file, it does make them even sharper than how they left the factory, but in my opinion and edge can never be too sharp, no need to detune at all.

Tuning Rictors
As rictors are an early rise ski, I have heard that tuning them is a little different to standard skis.
So when I sharpen my edges do I have to do anything different, or is that part of it still the same? Edge angle of 2 and base of 1 as far as I know.
Anyone able to shed any light on this? Paul?
Cheers

Re: Tuning Rictors
So nothing different then. I give mine a go every day when in use too. Do you use the same angles Paul? (Edge2, Base1)
Before my trip to Japan I had a nice mirror finish on the edges. It lasted about 3 days over there because our first few were waist deep days. Still reckon I could have gone the whole trip without touching them. One day in oz and they look like they need a touch up

Re: Tuning Rictors
I always keep the factory angles, even though I may not agree with them all the time, but I figure the factory would know what works best and so far they have always been right.

It is good to see the K2 Rictor will be back next season, and better still will be quite a bit cheaper.

Re: Tuning Rictors
Rec retail is to be $1199, but I would think you would pick them up for around $999, maybe not first up but after they have been around for a while.

Re: Tuning Rictors
Hubby skied on the rictors in Colorado and enjoyed them. How much would they cost him for a set now? They were a sexy green - are they the new ones?
Interesting reading about sharpening - we need to learn this stuff, should have had edges done daily, not twice in 15 days in crap snow!!!!Any woman with a pile of offspring and a sword means business! I'm standing well back!

Re: Tuning Rictors
The new ones are not green at all, but I am not allowed to say what colour the new ones are just yet, also the prices have dropped to under $1200 rec retail for ski and binding (same price as in the USA), you should pick some up for around $1,000 if you get in quick when they arrive.
