Re: NRL 2010 Thread
I think Manly will struggle unless a halfback steps up to the plate very early on..... Souths are definately a top 8 contender this year and possibly even top 4. I think they have recruited sharply over the off season with Burgess, Taylor and Ross very good additions to the forward pack. My only worry is that the halves don't live up to the expectations. I think John Sutton is due for a big year though, so will be interesting to see how he goes. I seriously see him as a contender for the NSW no. 6 jersey if he can play consistent footy.

Likely Sea Eagles team for 2010 Round 1 v Tigers @ SFS Monday night:
01.Brett stewart
02.Michael Robertson
03.Tony Williams
04.Steve Matai
05.David Williams
06.Jamie Lyon
07.Keiron Foran
08.Jason King
09.Matt Ballin
10.Josh Perry
11.Anthony Watmough
12.Chris Bailey
13.Glenn Stewart
Reserves
14.Terence Seu Seu
15.Brent Kite
16.Shane Rodney
17.George Rose
That is a KICKASS team right there.
It all hinges on how Foran, Lyon & Ballin go.
Especially Foran - if he can put in a good performance for most of the game with minimal errors, some good kicks, show some flair & variation and that he can be a threat in offense, it could really set the stage for Maroon & White success.
Ballin & Lyon also have to turn up, hopefully with at least a few moments of brilliance each.
The rest will fall into place if so.Go Sea Eagles | Mmm.. Beer.

Tony Williams in the centres = FAIL
He's too big.

Re: NRL 2010 Thread
Williams is best in the centres where he doesn't have to turn around and chase kicks...he has a problem like Eric Grothe Jr in that he turns like the QE2.
Also add Joe Gulavou (? spelling) to that squad (although I think he misses round 1 as he got injured in the trial).
Player to also watch is young Hodkinson the half who was former Australian schoolboys half that was injured when signed by parra a couple of years ago. He played for manly's feeder club in the QLD cup and was player of the year last year.

Re: NRL 2010 Thread
I reckon these days centres are almost more agile than wingers. Either way, I have heard rumours that Williams might play some of the match at 5/8th with Lyon slotting into the centres.
Apparently Williams played 5/8th in the QLD Cup GF last year and did alright...
