    Hi all,
I'm heading up on the main range for the October long weekend, I hear there is still a lot of snow but it is softening quickly.
Does anyone roughly know if the conditions will still be ok for making a snowcave then? I will have my tent but never got around to snowcaving this year and hope I didn't leave it too late.

    Hi LouiseJ,

no the snow is not suitable for a snowcave at the moment. Too much red dirt. It is making the snow crumble and break down.

I am going out today and will have some pics, pm me with your email and I will send you some photos after I finish today.

Hope to repeat tomorrow, it was so much fun! Had to wash everything afterwards, skis, skins, and boots, red mud!
