Well the link on vaustralia.com to virginamerica.com is working. It looks like the Vets are flying next March for $US69 per adult from LAX to SFO. Kids rates are 14 and under too it looks like.

For those interested in other routes eg towards Canada, there's an LAX direct to Seattle, as well as to Vegas, NY and Washington.

I signed up to their 'elevate rewards' program so I'll get email alerts.

Qantas has been consistently too pricey. In contrat Virgin's sale fares equalled a free flight for the Vets by comparison.

Qantas 'ff seats' seem murderous to get. Here's hoping Virgin are easier: and real people on the phone do the bookings. There's Hawaiian for a stopover before flying to San Fran or Sacramento direct (both being close to Lake Tahoe's resorts). Or there's vaustralia to LA and then virginamerica to San Fran.

I don't trust Qantas' new idea of grabbing points every month and then, years later, saying maybe they want a kerzilllion points or want massive 'taxes' paid for ff seats.

So maybe virgin's group suit my intended annual trips to Tahoe.

    Fingers crossed.
