if you can't choose, the obvious choice is to buy a new board... especially for japow.

For all you snowboardeds out there i need your advice...
i have a dilemma, basically i have 2 snowboards:
a GNU Riders Choice with Magne Traction 154.5
and a GNU Danny Kass Dirty Habits with Magne Traction 153
ok so the Riders choice comes to my nose in height, its a more stiffer board in comparison to the Dirty Habits and its twin directional whilst the Dirty Habits comes to my upper lip in height, is not twin directional has more flex in comparison to the riders and its slightly wider than the riders by 8mm, it also feels lighter and looks like it has more camber than the riders...
I'm a size 10 boot in large bindings with very little overhang on both boards, i'm an all mountain rider and enjoy a bit of park stuff. i weigh in at 58kg. I'll be riding falls creek this season and i'm off to japan in Feb in search for powder and i can only take 1 board with me on both trips. Which board should i choose?? Help...

smaller for falls, bigger for japan. you will prob ride more park in aus and barely any in japan. danny kass would be sick to ride in aus. bigger board for more float in pow. easy.

Yep, you need another board, 160 or maybe touch bigger for Japow.

yeah i was thinking this lib-tech board the MC Kink 155.5 for the Japow, it comes with Magne Traction as well. The description off the website goes along the lines of:
"17 years of skate influenced board design experience. The MC Kink geometries are derived from prototypes Matt made Lib Tech build back in the late 80’s. The idea of this shape was to develop a board that rides well in powder as well as being able to jib rocks, rails, logs, boxes etc. The 07/08 MC Kink features this same idea with modern geometries and construction. Go ride, jib everywhere! "

What do you reckon?

not the best choice for pow. if you are getting another board for powder, why not try a pow/freeride specific board like the burton malolo? any board with a bit of extra taper will give you increased float. ignore the 160 or bigger comment.

sorry i read that too fast. i thought you were referring to the ride kink. im not to familiar with the lib tech. why would you want magnetraction for powder though? you dont need it at all! im sure its a good board, lib tech make great boards, but there have to be better pow specific boards out there. really, check out the burton fish or malolo.

If you say the Riders Choice comes to your nose height and is stiffer then take that to Japan and the Kass to Falls (shorter and softer).
I rode a Capita in Japan when we went and it coped well in 2ft of fresh, and they aren't known for being a powder board. Just set the bindings back a little if you feel you need to.
What's the point in buying an extra big board just to ride in Japan for a couple of weeks - you'll never have any need for it in Oz/NZ! Unless of course you're looking for an excuse to buy a new board then go for it.iBoard
