The MHW tent looks ok, I worry about the size of it, I think it would be very cosy with two people, the vestibule looks tiny also....weight is very nice.

The Bibler is a single skin jobby, these are generally good for cold weather camping where there is little risk of rain. Not generally suited to oz, though many swear by them.....you also are not as warm in a single skin tent and condensation becomes an issue.

My hot tip is the MSR Fury HP......Teckle might be able to hook you up with a good price! This tent is roomy enough for two and by all accounts bullet proof....plus at around 3kg is reasonably light.

If you don't mind a cosy tunnel tent, go for a Macpac Minaret (if you can find one!) or a WE Second Arrow....I have the latter, it's functional and light but very small for two.

    Hope that helps!

Many thanks JD. As usual a wealth of helpful info.
I will talk to Teckel and weigh up the options.

btw, I have looked into the Marmot Alpinist 2, seems to be the benchmark, however over $AUD 1,000 is a bit hefty.

Just reminds me, the tent that Hopey1 has at BC SIC last year was schmick. Can't remember if it was a 3 man, but there was plenty of room for 2 + gear. Looking at this thread (over there) it is a Marmot Thor 2P.

    Here is a picture.
