Q1. NO....do not need chains-ski tube is before National Park entry gate & highly unlikely snow will full to this elevation (not that it hasn't in the past) but, considering weather prognosis highly unlikely for your trip.
Q2. Anti freeze is a no brainer my friend......
    Hope this helps....now, DON'T break a leg...

you should have anti freeze in the car anyway shouldn't you? I make sure I mention it in the service closest to winter for my car

There have been 4 times this year that you need chains to get to the tube, this is at the bottom of Penderlea hill. If this is the case, go back to Jindy and have a coffee or get chains.

If you don't have chains they will not allow you up and over the hill - hence the massive amount of cars at the bottom of the hill.

Anti freeze, yep, make sure you put some in if you dont already have it.

Not a diesel car, so fuel is ok. If diesel, fill up at Jindy so you have winter diesel.

snowmunch - did you tell them you were going to the snow? I always make a point of telling the service guys. Maybe there's something with modern cars where it's in there automatically?

girl Q: where does the anti freeze go? can 'we' see it by opening up the bonnet (to check)?

^ Anti-freeze is generally added to the radiator......you can empty the radiator backflow/inflow reservoir & add anti freeze to this or empty some fluid out of the radiator itself & add anti freeze direct-just need to run the car for a short drive to ensure it runs through the engine.

hey Skijackski who is it that checks the car for chains-I thought National Parks did that when you accessed the Park....outside the Park is a different matter????? Bit unclear on this one...prolly the local constabulary but they're usually busy issuing fines or breath testing.....anyway

Proper way is to drain some of the radiator fluid and add direct to radiator..... the overflow reservoir is just that, a reservoir and may not mix the anti freeze in well.
Used to be specific anti boil as opposed to anti freeze but I think most products serve both purposes nowadays so it should be in the cooling system to start with but a mechanic can do a test to check how much is in the system to make it safe to a certain temp.
Pods... look if the radiator overflow reservoir has a fluorescent green colour to it... means it has an additive
    Whatever!
