View Full Version : The "other" addictions thread....

ok, we all hang here cause we're addicted to snow sports (badly) in one form or another. What are your other addictions that you cant just shake and will love till the day you keel over?
for me, its old school hot rodding. This is not the modern shiny hot rods you see on some cable shows but the real deal. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=WXU3N9wT3u0 I'm damn well obsessed.
Mix that with some vintage drag racing footage and the flat out speed challanges of bonneville
and I'm dribbling like dog before dinner. I just cant enough of the sound of unmuffled engines and the smell of fossil (and other fuels) being consumed at an alarming rate.
Anyway, that's me. I'm an old school hot rod 50/60's car addict. I confess. Once you've ridden in a 32 hot rod roadster there's no going back. Ever. Its like snow sports - done once, your hooked for life and there's no escape. The sound, the smell and the feel of speed.
So, what rocks your world apart from an addiction to snow??? What else has you hooked that you will never shake? smile.gif

We all love camping and boating down the coast-which is luckily more of a summer thing-so it doesnt interfere with the winter skiing!! ;)

good food and wine.
Any holiday really because it means we get Mr Legs away from work and his "other" addiction, haflingers. He has 5 now in various states of construction...I think three actually go.

My other addiction is cooking, which is fantastic because I don't have to have snow to do it and it will probably be something I can continue for the rest of my life. Most girls are happy with a new pair of shoes or a handbag. Forget that! As far as I'm concerned you can never have too many cookbooks.

Hello all, been a while. I like the thread.
Farty, the custom chopster will be a fine adventure!
When we cannot be in the white room, we like this stuff(apologies for the photo size):

Scuba diving, gives me something to do in Beach/tropical holiday destinations. And the gear and holiday costs rival skiing.
Indoor climbing, a new one but Im getting better at it. Plus its cheap
RFS-not so much a hobby but I spend a lot of free time doing it. Bonus with this one is it's mostly free.

errr bogus bordering! It's forgivable because your in the ocean riding waves and can be sick when the surf is heavy, it's a good transition to standing up which is way cooler.
It's just the teens that that turn up in groups and crowd the lineup that bug me.

I used to play mixed teams ( as well as womens)about 16 years ago its fun! The boys used to do lots of contact! It's a lot rougher with the boys but we did pretty well and represented our region in some Sydney comps and won too! Ahh ..the good old days! I played for from 9 years until 30 years old- by then the knees had had enough! Just saved them in time so I have enough movement left in them for skiing!!!!
;)
XC Mountain Biking.....I'm no Julian Absalon, but damn its fun....
PS3, X360 and Wii....... :D

Under 6-That would have been a sackable offense where I used to work. Remember the MD going spic when he found out one of the reps was off 4. Reasoning, youve got to play a lot of golf to be off 4 and that means suspicion of the "sales meeting".
Yeah I think the MD was rubbish at golf.
