Sydney - weird!

Wiped the condensation off the kitchen window and revealed red droplets running down. On the veranda there's a film splattered over everything, my car has an interesting red stripe on the roof.
I can't see the top of the hill but down low; isn't snow meant to be white??
The vision Ive seen of Sydney looks amazing.
With all the iron in the air; a few massive lightning strikes woke me last night, the first shook the apartment - I thought the building was collapsing, the second made me think dynomite was being exploded on the Alpine Way, even after that the next few still made me wake in fright.

it's the apocalypse...
yeah i went out and took some pics...gonna take my camera to work with me.
you can smell the dust indoors, kind of the same smell as when you you an angle grinder on bricks, and it's in the back of my throat and nose already.
tempted to stay home.
Wear a mask if you have exercise in it - not good in ya lungs.
Filter your water.
When it clears - clean the air filter on your car.

happens in Melb quite often, we had dirty rain last week but wasn't as obvious as that.
just wait until it rains and your house and cars will be like mud pies!

In retrospect, lighting the match was my big mistake. But I was only trying to retrieve the gerbil.....ARMAGEDDON!!

I got photos too but the camera didn't make it into the bag for work.
Mum and dads house is full of dust as they have windows and the laundry door(for the dog) open year round.
My little cocoon of a room was/is fine cause I never open the window and sleep with the door close. Mum and dad even have red dust on pillows!

I guess all the car washes will be expecting a huge influx over the coming days!
I haven't seen a dust storm like this in Newcastle ever. The last time I saw anything close was around this time last year in Thredbo.
I spend 5 mins outside checking the horses I can feel the effect of dust in my chest. Won't be going out again without a mask.

Really like the bus shelter one Pini, did you submit those to the SMH? Don't recall seeing them in their slideshow of reader pics....
I'm not going outside to take a pic of my car, I am glad I didn't wash it the other day though!

my car was worse than that Donza, I had to hose iot off before leaving for work...although it's not much better now anyway. I had a full service done on saturday and all filters were new.

ouch to the snow pics and that quay shot is seriously more dust than showed up on the cameras for canberra last night!
Which direction is the storm coming from? ie west or south west?

The dust we are getting is actually from a different part of the red centre to that they had in canberra yesterday. The dust they got was paler and greyer in texture...this is dust like you'd get from the NW corner of NSW.
You can actually see it on the sat picture..streaming and wrapping down from the NW.

This morning has been wonderful, have been watching the white snow get graffiti in red. Windows are shocking, can barely see out of them.
Next week the big clean up.
Spaz if you need window cleaning things let me know.
I had to buy bottled water for my coffee machine this morning, as the water at Thredbo is already showing signs of grit, not good for the filters.

Things come in threes:
1. took the ski racks off the car on the weekend: heavy snow is now forecast
2.had car fully serviced on Saturday and washed it on Sunday: biggest dust storm in living memory hits (new filters now clogged)
3. Fertilised the lawn on Sunday:.........
I suppose it now won't rain for months.

Wasn't meaning the colour or dust Donza, more the consistency of the snow which would be like a slushy after you've ****ed all the moisture out of it - crunchy surface and uneven. if the snow that falls is light and dry, you'll go through to that surface.
(and I'm making myself feel better cause i won't be there ;) )

I was so excited last night with the massive storm giving my car a wash (COVERED in bird stuff, big white stains everywhere) but i wasn't expecting a mudbath.
Still, pretty cool thing to witness

Bugger have a colleague flying back from Perth today, was supposed to be me on the trip, but couldn't go in the end. I wouldn't have got back to sydney on time by the looks of things either

the red glow around my blinds this morning was creepy!!
doonza.. my car would rival urs too!
and i think we had some rain too which gave it that awseom red splotchy look! the dark cars defiently look worse!
i hope it doesnt happen again.. i just got the filters changed this mornign!

Well apparently the red snow is OK to ski on... the fresh white stuff is like glue!!!!
It looked like somoeone tipped orange paint over my car this morning...
We got a little bit of dust the night before, but this was just crazy!!!!
Perisher Centre roof had brown and white stripes on it from the fresh snow and the fresh dirt!!!!
