not sure what you mean by good, but, Aqua dining is lovely food with a great, nay, spectacular view of harbour bridge etc. It is above Luna Park.

Service can be variable, but food and view worth it.

not cheap, but not Sydney's dearest.

Garfish is more a good local restaurant. We have been to Crows Nest a few times for breaky (spanner crab omelette yum, waffles with bacon and maple syrup also yum. They have another one at Kirribilli and I'm guessing the formula is the same.

Japanese, I can't recommend Koi at Hunters Hill highly enough. Really really interesting modern Japanese. Sushi chef was head of ANA Unkai for a long time, dessert chef was from Rockpool. The menu reads as very exy, and I guess it is, but the food is stunning (eggplant w miso is fantastic)...don't skip dessert. It is not hard to get to from North Sydney (easier than the city and parking no worries). If you get there early you could have a little walk down to the old dry dock at Woolwich. Nice area.

If you went in with a $100 a head budget you would be well fed and watered. Spend more if you want excess, or go easy, drink less, and spend more like $70 a head.

There's a tepanyaki place in the Coles centre near the Oaks, which is just over the highway from North Sydney. Great little spot!

There is a great pre theatre restaurant in the Ensemble theatre at Kirribilli.

Bayleys. It is right on the water at Kirribilli. Really lovely spot. The menu is small but everything on it is great. Nice wine list too. And best of all, it is not too exy.

You could try to book a bit later, or book at 6 and go see Mary Stuart (I think that is what's on ATM). It's a very excellent period drama on Elizabeth and Mary...really well done. Greta Scachi plays Elizabeth. Not all the silly frilly words of Shakespeare though, so much easier to follow.

google ensemble.

Rengaya in North Sydney. Ultimate Japanese fine dining in Sydney IMO!

there's a new place too, on the corner of Shirley Road and pacific highway, called Waqu/wagu Can't remember the exact name, saw it as we drove past and also a review in good living or similar. Looked nice, haven't eaten there though

If you have never tried non tex mex mexican, head to Vera Cruz Military road neutral bay/mosman way. Seriously delicious food like nothing I've ever had

If it is Japanese you are looking for then I can back up Yeti's recommendation of Rengaya in North Sydney. Alternatively, If you are willing to travel North a few kms to Crows Nest, the Sushi Counter is also very good.

What's "Pink Salt" like? I met the owner, Bella, yesterday and she's certainly switched on (and confessed to Melbourne being the best under torture).

FYI for anyone haggling commission rates with Amex, American Express has offered restaurants different rates, as low, reputedly as .99% (down from 2.55%) if they agree to remove the surcharge. I'll be haggling our bars and restaurants and accom commission rates.

It didn't take long. Not my favourite eating place, nice view and good for a beer pitstop at lunchtime.

Back to topic. Any of the restaurants along the strip of Miller Street in Cammeray (near enough to North Sydney) offer good food options. Some good Thai food to be found here.

Eagle's Nest Infringement Notice

A few others listed as well. Linky no worky....

Not surprised about eagles nest, I've eaten there twice with a 15 year gap and the 2nd time was tragic. reheated and crusty fritatta, wasn't even fresh! hate to think how many days old it was

Try just foodauthority.nsw.gov.au homesite and start from there. Looks like the link has a few issues today. Probably getting bombarded with the publicity today.

Publishing the register like this is a publicity stunt, IMO.

The govt should allow the food outlet the chance to apply to the authority for a repeat inspection or inspections (at their cost) and if it passes muster, a notation to that effect is put on the register against the relevant notice.

So in effect you get open (unanswered) notices and closed notices. That will give useful info to members of the public about what is currently unsafe.

At the moment, the list can contain offences more than 2 years old (the enabling legislation requires the Food Authority to remove offence listings 2 years after the last date for appeal).

Middo
09-12-2008, 02:08 PM
Probably the most notable ones are the ones who are repeat offenders.

sure you can SDJ tongue.gif you just can't be bothered ;)

SDJ said - 3 shots stitched = 3 photos taken from the same spot but each shot is moving around the view, so start at the left and work to the right etc, multiple pics of different bits of the one view. THey are then put together end to end or "stitched" to make one long panoramic picture

f4.5 - the exposure setting on the SLR camera (in this case a digital)

60 sec exposure amount of time each image in the sequence was exposed

17-40mmL = Fancy schmancy Canon Lens (you know it's genuine canon semi professional lens as the L signifies the level of lens. Level referring to the different quality and amount of "glass" lenses within the bigger lens)

http://www.canon.com.au/images/big_products/ef%2017-40mm%20f4.0l%20usm%20side%20angle.jpg

on a 40D = Canon 40D D signifies Digital and the model number 40 indicates it's an SLR, so it's a digital SLR.

and looks like this
