Nope and your prob might be the place you are eating at!
yeah there are some awesome little places on the hill for lunch at hot-ham
not as good as japow unfortunately (but to me that was like rolling around in a pimped out rolls royce - but still pretty good

better ways to eat up there, even if buying.
A swag from the supermarket is less than $5 and will keep you going with a warm hit of carbs (swag = sausage roll in a bread roll)

just need to find better places to eat, on the mountain is always cheaper, try steering clear of places with high number of eaters.

I take a packed lunch everyday I am really picky so to get fresh bread everyday i bake par bakes (the dinner roles you finish cooking at home) each morning and i just put ham and cheese on so it doesn't go soggy. I also take fun size chocolate bars . I ski with a daypack and camelbak so carrying it isnt a problem.
I have been doing this for about 5 yrs now

Note to pods: Steer clear of mid station outside of cheap hot choccy time! That's bare naked robbery!

Small Nachos at BC terminal was $7.50 last year (pretty big, plenty for 1), plus $3 for coffee, best value feed in Aus on the mountain I reckon!

Surely that can't be right Cabby.

No discount at mid station for SP holders :(
Guthega burning log bistro (owned by Perisher) is the cheapest place on mountain I have found for food ...

JD and Yeti,
you should both be banned for naming the best places to eat at PB ;) I might be biased cause I've worked at both, and IMO the ski centre should re open, that was a fun place to work! :D

My guess would be something like ......
$6.50 Sausage Roll
$5.50 Chips
$9 Soup
$5 Cookie
$4.50 Powerade
$4.50 Coke
$0.50 Tomato Sauce
Sounds about right
$35.50
$42 seems alot though :( :( :(

Thats an average of $7 per product. There is NOTHING on that list that should individually cost $7. Thats just ridiculous.
Caboose I would have told them to keep them all and skied somewhere else to find something cheaper!!

I have been doing this for about 5 yrs now I always pack powerade, it's $2.30 on special compared to $4.50 !!
and when you know you're going to drink it for sure, carrying it isn't really that much of a hassle ...
And now I carry muesli bars or nut bars in case I get a sudden urge on the chair lift. 2 weeks go I bought a nut bar at mid station, it cost $5 ... when it woulda cost me like 90c at the supermarket. !! DOH!!

Oh and if anyone gives me grief about 10% discount for SP holders, I think anything to save a few dollars is worth it !!
Got 20% off my food last week, couple of my friends who work there decided to use their ID :D
20% is pathetic for staff I reckon!

merritts: packed all the time, exy as, but always awesome food, greaaaaat hot choccy, and efficient friendly service. I'd pay a bit more for that when I'm cold and want to save time heading down the hill for snacks.

kids can always take lunch, for sure.Lockers are $8 or $9 a day....car is usually miles away.....they could consider riding with a pack, not acceptable on training days, 2 a week, when they get an hour anyway for lunch and are usually very cold and very hungry. So multiply the $$ ze Munga was talking about by 3 or 4 if you count Azz...and there's one expensive lunch no matter where they have it.... twice a week.
I'm not complaining, really, I'm glad to be here! But it was a good exercise for the kids to stop and ask themselved why I ask them to be a bit careful with their choices.
It will be easier again in a week when school hols are all over.

Its the alpine dollar , a universal phenomenan
Basically its about this formula in ausie.
1. Sea level$ x (metres above sea level /500) =Alpine$

I want to charge $42 too, but our manager refuses to pole dance.

Yeah ausssie alpine food is very expensive, its the same though at the footy 5 bucks for a bucket of chips.
O/S is not effected the same way but they do see greater numbers etc. (slice of pizza and drink at whistler was about 7 bucks if I remember correctly)

A meal on snow in the USA was reasonably expensive, but it would feed 4 people with leftovers graemlins/big_laugh.gif
