I was wondering if any snowatchers had hire a car in the town of Hakuba I am heading there for two weeks in Feb and am just thinking about having the freedom of a car in the middle of the trip would be awesome. What I am after is any info on the name of car rental places in Hakuba rough pricing per day and location as I spent 2 months in hakuba 2 years ago I am familar with the landscape. Thanking you all in advance

Haven't done it myself (used the buses), but it looks about $90-$100 per day.

If you are going to hire a car, I recommend that you save the shink/bus fare and hire from Tokyo!

I have used http://www2.tocoo.jp/?file=rentcar_inbound/main and can vouch that they are good value and deliver what they offer pretty well.

Could also consider hiring from Nagano mid trip, hakuba restricts your options a fair bit.
