Just trying to drain my car's oil and do a filter change. Done it a few times before on a mates car. But my oil plug is very tight. Anyone on here a mechanic or got any way to make it nudge?
cheers

A longer spanner or ratchet (with a longer handel) to give you mechanical advatage needed to be able to "crack" the bolt

I've got the spanner/wrench but it's very very tight. Any oils or grease that will help loosen it?

WD40, or Rost Off (its a Wurth product). If its tight your best bet is a longer spanner or ratchet as mentioned.

Mechanics use was called a breaker bar for very tight nuts and bolts but a sump plug should not be that tight. They have also been known to use a rattle gun.

But as your doing it in your drive way its unlikely you'll have either. Try using a 1/2 drive socket and ratchet (as its usually got a longer hadle) if you can't crack it with the 3/8 drive set. Dont bother with 1/4 drive set. If you only have 3/8 drive, get some pipe and place it over the handle of the ratchet to make it longer.

And don't forget to buy a new washer for your bolt....

yup. Got all the filter oil plug etc from super cheap. Very good customer service from them. Told the guy what I was doing and he got everything I needed of the shelves.!!

Rost off is a good product

Rost off ice is even better...

But you should not need to usr those products...sounds like someone has done it up too tight....use a piece of pipe to extend the handle you are using to create move leverage...and watch your knuckles....

Can't wait to haer what the filter is like....

Don't forget to "grease" the new filters' gasket witha thin film of new engine oil before screwing on....and only do it up hand tight.

Don't use a shifter on it. Use the correct size ring end spanner..!
