Anyone got any cheap way of fixing car scrathes without making that expensive trip to the pannel beater. Some low life thought they'd key the side doors of my car.

cheers SS

A key scratch is normally quite deep and you will struggle to get it out with normal cutters/polish. If it isn't an overly long scratch you can try a touch up paint. Most dealerships sell little nail-polish sized touch up kits (in your exact paint colour), or Repco has a broad selection of touch up pens in a lot of colours that you can buy.

These work quite well and most people won't pick it up unless it is a big scratch or poorly matched colour. There are also a number of scratch and dent removers in the yellow pages who can do patch repairs quite cheaply and effectively! Hope that helps!

What type of paint SnowSnow? If it's metalic the whole panel needs repainting. New car, good brand? Should have a good paint job and be harder to key it to the extent that cut & polish should clean it up.

hmmmm, reminds me of the day I walked out to find cupcake beastie creating a match box slot car track over three panels of my new volvo XC90

two years later the scars remain as a testament to my self control redface.gif (she was three...swearing at her won't scar her for life nearly as much as what I was tempted to do)

Three Cd players in row were replaced by Subaru at no charge before we got onto him!

And I remember the time Fishmunga opened the car door, as we were moving up the driveway, straight into the driveway light bollard Grrgggg

And i remember another time, when he was a little hungry, we decided to bite a hole in the trim below the backseat window.
All in the same Subie. We don't have it anymore! ;)
