Is this a good deal or is it better to wait till later in the year - looking at Feb/Mar 2012
If it was my $1200 per person, I'd wait and hope for a 2-for-1 sale and not go if the fares weren't cheap. Then again, maybe the number of flights and routes are cut so Q has fewer fuller planes all seeking top dollar so prices rise. As Clint Eastwood might say, are you feeling lucky?

Personally I think 1200 on Qantas with all the benefits such as ff points and status credits, is as good as we may see for a while, I am waiting on my daughter to fix her available dates but if still available, I will go with this Qantas deal.

depends. If you need specific dates for a trip to Japan, yes, book it. (we have as we only have a small window next feb). If you are flexible when you can go just wait to see if there is a 2 for 1 sale later this year as Vet says.

What if you don't have a 2 for 1 person to split the deal??? (oh the sad life of a single snow dreamer...) Would that fare be the best you would get?
I was debating using ff pts to get home business class or using them to go both ways for free.... or paying for a return trip... decisions decision....
I couldn't upgrade with that fare could I???

I read the fine print and the $1200 fare can not be upgraded however from time to time you do get an email saying they are allowing upgrades on all fares so its posible.
I booked the same flight last year Premium Economy for 108,000 points and got an operational upgrade coming home to business. Truth is though, I sleep better in Premium.

gah... just checked my dates and I can get it... damn now I am wishing I hadn't cancelled my amex as that is the only way I could afford to buy it this month.
I wish this sale was just after I got my tax cheque back. I wonder if qantas will let me delay payment - bahaha

Well as I am deeparting 20 December and returning 6 Jan for this trip to Japan, I have booked my five tickets at the $1200 rate, I figure the best deal I got for this same period in previous years was $1850 on JAL. This gives nme the direct flight option rather than via GC.
I'm happy with that for about the same cost of Jet Star I also get FF points and status credits. I also get Qantas lounge access and I get mt 10kg of extra baggage weight for free.
Booked our flights today for the last 2 weeks in January. Think the price is pretty good but time will tell.
Only 5 weeks till we visit the Aussie Snow :frosty::happy:

The biggest issue we could have is the Qantas International review and announcement in August, this run could be reduced to less times a week, it could be scrapped and replaced by Jetstar only or it could change from a 747 to an A330. It may stay as is but it seems the dick running Qantas these days is more interested in promoting Jetstar.

It's down to $1099 again.
(Wonder what the probability is for a codeshare on Jetstar)
