Hey guys,
anyone try the Kastle MX 78 or 88's?
been reading rave reviews. Are there any distributors in Australia?

Tried them last year, they are OK, nothing special that I would rave about.

Thanks Pete,
Paul,
What would you recommend demoing in their place? Australian conditions all mountain ski.

Thanks Pete,
Paul,
What would you recommend demoing in their place? Australian conditions all mountain ski.I would suggest demoing them for sure, they are a good ski, but for me nothing I personally would rave about, I found the K2 Rictor a ski worth raving about as an all rounder, and the Blizzard skis as exceptional fast skis with very good edge hold. The one I also rave about is the Fischer Motive series.

Hi Paul
I think the skis you've mentioned are about 80mm waist. I was wondering what you'd recommend around the 85-90mm range for Aust/NZ/Japan conditions? I was wondering if the Kastle MX88s would be the go.

At Winter park I thought the K2 Aftershock was the best of the 86mm under foot skis that we tried, it also has Early rise technology, something Kastle didn't have at the time, I am not sure if the Kastle skis you get here now are 2012 models or the 2011 ones we tried.
For me I would certainly look at an early rise ski for Japan and NZ, and why not for Australia.

I demo'd both the Kastle mx88 and the K2 Rictor last year. For me I preferred the Kastle over the Rictor marginally. I am not as tall as Paul and possible a little lighter. At this stage one of these ski's will probably my next ski of choice, if money wasn't an issue then most likely the Kastle. From memory they retail around the $1700 vs $1200 for the Rictor. Demo both for sure.

I am not as tall as Paul and possible a little lighter. Oi, are you saying I am fat. ;)
I agree demo both for sure, they are both good skis.

lol, no. The extra odd 15cm of height is the extra weight.

I have demo'd from harros before. Make sure you ask if they have been retuned cos I have had a set or two from there with some pretty severe detuning. Not what you want in a performance ski.

For some strange reason certain shops feel they have to alter the factory tune, I am yet to see anyone apart from Bert from Rosbert make an improvement on the factory tune, the best way to demo a set of skis is as they come from the factory with the edge bevels and the amount of detune worked out by the design engineers for each particular ski, they designed the skis, so it makes sense to leave them as designed.
