... skiing turns to surfing .... and great disappointment turns to great Joy...
After watching “The Edge of Never” for the second time the other day I decided to try the ski boots on, and for the first time since tearing the ankle ligaments in a ****injury mid Aug it didn’t feel too bad. So all inspired by seeing Plakie, Fan Fan and the boys on my old stomping grounds in the Cham mountains I decided we should head out to Club Lake to get another ski in this season. After having a bit of a look out the range and talking to some people having spent time out there the other week I was pretty sure there should be enough snow left to have a go. Pappa to have some fun in the chutes on Carruthers South face and hopefully also find something for Little Swede to slide on. But I wasn’t sure if I would be able to carry all the gear we needed. So packed everything during the week to see what it was like and after putting the backpack on with my skis, Little Swede’s skis, my ski boots, all the usual overnight stuff, etc, etc I had to admit defeat and settle for a hike out the range instead. Aahh well, there’s always another day for a ski. At least we’ll have some mountain fun hiking out there.
Friday 21 Nov
All gear packed and ready for a trip down the mountains straight after work (getting an early mark). Monitoring the weather forecast and charts throughout the day and not looking too promising. Get to the car just to find out that the battery doesn’t want to play anymore. Get the laptop out while waiting for the NRMA to come and after seeing the latest forecast combined with my bad mood from the failing battery I decide to call the trip off. Not happy, can’t say I was in a great weekend mood by the time I was home.
So what do you do when you’re all psyched up for some mountain action and you just can’t go??
Well, you swap this...

... and play in that unfrozen snow called water and turn the weekend in to a surf fest of course!
