No the Line is not broken on that stretch of road. The driver was making an illegal action. Mum used to drive there everyday and is is dangerous enough stretch of road let alone going on to the wrong side of the road to overtake. Some people just amaze me.

Ever thought that perhaps the driver actually collapsed/died and lost control of the car????
News reports said it was unexplained why the car was on the wrong side of the road.

:( Whether it was an accident or recklessness, poor driver will have to live with it for the rest of her life. She wouldn't have set out that morning knowing some family were about to lose a loved one in her car...

Hope the kids are coping.

Yes it is very sad indeed that two lives were lost.
But it is more the point I'm trying to make. That sheer stupidity was in the head of that driver when going on to the other side of the road. The driver was obviously not thinking about the safety of his/here and the passengers life or any other drivers around him/her.
It just frustrates the hell out of me when people with full licenses should be the ones setting the example for learner and p plate drivers.
Me and my cousin are one of the few p platers who do try to drive safely on the roads and this is the example that gets set for us!!!

If I was 45 seconds faster he could have driven straight into me. I was stuck in the jam around the corner from the bus.
I find it hard to believe that anyone would contemplate overtaking in that spot. The bus had just gotten to the overtaking lane going up the hill. The car that hit it coming from down the hill was in an area of double white lines.
If he was overtaking I 'suspect' that he didn't envisage the cars behind the bus accelerating as they hit the start of the overtaking lane. If he was going straight for them it would be logical for him to go right into the bus to avoid them if he could get back into his own lane.
Either way very sad. I saw parents running from cars up the road frantic to get to their children. There was a fatality last year in nearly the same spot.

I thought the authorities have suspected the driver may have suffered a heart attack.. I'm sure that's what I heard reported on the news??? I watched the footage showing a young school girl describing the accident.. she was little flippent about the situation and was smiling throughout the brief interview and talking about blood and stuff.. then the mother came into view and was smiling and laughing along with her.. I understand that they were probably relieved and all, however I can't help but feel it is a little disrespectful to the deceased.
Regardless of the circumstances involved it is a tragic and very sad situation.
