Does anyone with NZ exp know which resort would be the best for mid to late July

Coronet Peak and The Remarkables should both be worth skiing at that time. NZ is generally more likely to have had good falls by the time that you are looking at. A little further away from Queenstown is Cardrona which in my opinion is even better and worth the drive.

actually its not going to be late july now, 5th to the 15th will there be heaps of snow by then in NZ

It's a bit hit and miss like here. On an average year they would have a pretty good cover by then at most areas. They have increased snowmaking over the last few years too so that helps.

I did Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Treble Cone in August though - snow was similar to Australia.
