nah, too many words in writing up a trip report.
So…. rather than write a pile of words I’m just going to throw up some pics. Needless to say a great time was had by all. The kids had plenty of the those WTF moments that only Japanese culture can provide.
Sad for me in that this will probably be the last time just the 3 of us ever have a holiday together. Just as well we all had a great time and the memories will last forever.
Anyway… here is the link to the online album.

We were looking through these with interest as Japan is up there on the want to do list.
Wow!

J2 loved the crunky. Personally I'm more of a pocky man.
I have brought a supply of goodies into work for a tasting session today - green tea, cheese and wasabi kit kats!

Some great shots Hoots. Looking forward to any more over the coming days.

I think the standouts for us were the:
* quality of the snow (and snow falls) was 11/10
* lack of crowds during the week
* skill standard and courtesy of japanese skiers/boarders is vastly better than in australia
* food
* scenery
* spacious accomodation by japanese standards
Lowlights were:
* NONE!

Sounds like everybody had a good time, even saw the sun & Yotei & done the long walk.
Doesn't look too crowded for the holiday period (it's gets quieter after Chinese NY).

Nice, thanks Hoots. Some good memories there for J1 & J2. Did you see the waterslide, wavepool & onsen.
There's light snow falling at Rusutsu until at least the weekend (when we arrive).
Coincidently, there was report you may have seen, about the other big resort, being tracked out by 9.30am (during your trip).

Saw the slide, pool and onset. Kids weren't interested. No, didn't hear the tracked out stories at all. No probs with that at rus!
Be sure to get to the pirateman for dinner one night - they do awesome gyoza (be sure to have it with chilli oil and ponzu sauce).

stay away from the chesse kit kat - positively vomit inducing.
The green tea kit was pretty good, and the coke-a-cola and lemonade kit kats were a bit too sweet.

Nice pics and report Jahoota.
Did your children try out any of the ski schools in Rusutsu? Would you recommend the place for much younger ones (age 6)? We're looking to head to Hokkaido next time but have no idea of where to go (heard Niseko described as 'Neighbours with snow' a little while ago!!).
We also loved the Shinkansen kit-kat box while we were there. They were the first thing the kid told anyone about when we got back.
