anyone seen the amount of snow that mammoth is getting smashed with?
as of today they are well over 12+ feet from this storm system which has only been going for 4 days and then they expect another 6+ feet to come in the next few days followed by another massive storm after XMAS!

Yep, Mammoth is getting seriously hammered. There's got to be a point where they just have too much fresh snow. The mountain crew must be working their asses off

We're driving to Tahoe and Yosemite in a fortnight. I'm so glad I got a cheap Jeep.
(But when Taxman arrives I'll have a cheaper Ford Focus. I figure Taxi can push it :)

And I suppose you'll expect me to turn up in a 4x4 rather than the cheapest buzz box with ladder chains. :banghead:
I thought you were catching Amtrak to Truckee?
(PS: We've got an invite to meet and ski with patrollers and resort managers and realtors (lock up your cheque book). Nothing better than being shown around 'their mountain' by locals.

Looked at Amtrak, but need to get to Emeryville (between Berkeley and Oakland) which is a PITA from SFO as BART doesn't go there. So though it easier to hire a buzz box at SFO and drive up. A pity as it would have been good to have caught the Zypher (it also leaves at 9:10 am, so not enought time to get there from the airport).
No need to worry about the cheque book, exchanging today on a beach house down the coast so no major purchases on the horizon.

Taxi there is a free shuttle from the MacArthur bart in Oakland to the amtrak in emeryville , it's about a ten minute jaunt on the Emery-go-round here is the link http://www.emerygoround.com/

Thanks HFZ - in the end too much hassle, so I'm doing a one-way car hire from SFO to Truckee (not that expensive). Good luck with the surgery and see you sometime next week.
