Looking at eating out once or twice down in Bright. Best place with little ones and nice food?

Wouldn't really advise the pub, the food isn't the best there... Last time I was there anyway

Chunky, I've not been there for years. But back then, there was one that was quite central and open with glass floor to ceiling windows (so you could see the whole show from the street).

I can't remember what it was called, but we ended up eating there a few times.

We also went to a trout catching place and caught trout and had them (or their relative in the freezer) cooked for lunch. The kids would enjoy that!

Hi Chunky

Cozy Kangaroo is good for families, food is OK, and play area for the little ones. $$ are OK just.

Il Centro (on the corner,) is very good for pizzas and pasta. Use to be called Tin Dog went very down hill, very good now though - my eldest daughters 2nd home.

Pub is also good - Alpine Hotel near roundabout - meals are good sizes, the noodle dishes are very good value and very tasty.

No eateries in Bright are very cheap, almost mountain prices, Hotham prices anyway. Hotham tends to be a bit cheaper than other resorts to eat at although choice is limited. (Please I dont want to start a slinging match!! just my opinion)

hope this helps

Chunky if you are driving to or from Hotham, try the Big Shed Cafe in Smoko.

We have driven past for years and then finally one day stopped in there. The food is great all fresh grown and sold in the fresh produce market next door.

They have a kids play area inside as well and the staff are lovely. smile.gif

Rock Salt, fish and chips in Bright is great. Best food of that type in this neck of the woods.

At Hotham, try the Genny for pizza, White Room for Laksa at lunch, Hot Doggies for hot chippies, Chill Bar for foccacia, Snowbird for kangaroo souvlaki, the Deli for sushi. Jack Frost has been good this year too.

Water avail pretty much everywhere.

At Dinner Plain, fabulous Cilantro and Tsubo, more adult than kids, Pot and parma on Wed at High Plains $18 (make a booking).

We ate at a little cafe in Bright on the way home earlier this week. Can't remember the name but they specialised in baked potatoes. Food was ok (the kids shared a plate of Nachos which was huge) and cheap too.

I don't think they had a licence, might do BYO.
