Any one heading out. Thinking I might head out Twynam and Carruthers way for 3-4 days if the weather looks ok.
Pretty easy tour but a few k's in it. Awesome camping to be had out there.

I'd be up for it.......... if it did not mean ending up divorced less than two weeks into my marriage!

If the Dragons aren't in the GF I'm keen. Wanna try and get out to the Club Lake chutes a few times this spring if free time and good weather all align.

Where I am is closer to Watsons Crags (damn gnarly terrain in anyones language), but with a big day you could do club lake from the camp site (never done it). You also have Carruthers and Twynam west close by (also very good terrain)
With my less than 100% knee I will be skiing the super fun yet not so gnarly Watsons Creek and Siren Song lines....I really dont want to take any chances out there, its a long drag back on one leg, and not fair on travel buddies to ski that stuff knowing I am not 100%.
Of course if you did choose to join us, Crags/Carruthers/Twynam are all very complimentary to my lines, so effectively you wouldn't be skiing them "alone"....not that it would bother an experienced bloke like yourself Swede, but nice to have an escape plan.

Only if you strap me to your backpack and carry me out there. Then I can sit there and make a super dooper camp. Heck I'll make an igloo ;-)
I'd snowshoe it myself but if I did my knee again I'd reckon I'd suddenly be single! ;-)

Could be. I have to pick up my van from Jindy, but I could delay that a week pretty easy I think. Will see what happens with this weekend, I have a few feelers out for some co-conspirators but nothing firm.
I really don't want to head that far out solo so if I can help it, so if I am a nigel this weekend I will delay! The missus will be happy to have me home (maybe).

Weather reports look a bit crap for the weekend. Going to give it a miss and go next week, so if you are around PPP it's a goer (obviously weather reports to check before heading out)

Sounds good, will keep an eye on the weather. Hopefully there is some snow left after the weekend.

There were about 30 people getting ready to head out today from the bottom of Kozi chair - sleds and the kitchen sink!

OK, I have delayed this trip for a week. Pini....you still keen?? You up for camping or prefer day slogs? Leaving from CP sounds like a plan!
Any other takers?

Soooo tempting but nooooo.
My knee is six weeks post op today, strong, stable, good as gold (better than it's been in years) full range of motion but as much as I would love to get out there (even to do some snowshoeing and camping) I will behave and save myself for next year and keep slogging away in the gym. Besides my naturopath has put me on a diet of air, water and mungbeans today which is no fun ;-)
Have fun though and post plenty of pics for us folk to drool over.

Just read over the other side (from Pini Pow Pow in fact) that CP road is still closed.....hiking through Heath to Illawong Hut seems the order of the weekend!

And Coopski, doctors orders are made to ignore!!!
Ortho Surgeon (2004): Don't ski for another month....your leg was busted man!!!
JD: Ummmmm ok (skied last weekend, but omit this detail from report to surgeon.....ski following weekend)
Repeat.

Indeed...
"The RTA has determined that the road from Spencers Creek to Charlotte Pass will
be closed to the general public until mid October 2010 (the opening date has not
yet been determined).
Access to Charlotte Pass Resort is only available to guests booked into lodges,
however this access must be pre-arranged.
For daytrips or camping in the Kosciuszko National Park, parking is available at
Spencers Creek."
They dont mention how you are supposed to cross Spencers though

Packing full battle regalia tonight so I can do the unceromoneous exit from work tomorrow and head down.
been a bit lazy with the food drier, but will get something going tonight.
Weather looks good.
Still keen Pini?? Probaly smart to coordinate gear.

Have fun jd. Cook up a good curry to warm the coggles ;-)
I'm now debating a new hiking tent I just saw. Slightly heavier than I want at 4.2kg but a very roomy 3 man with big vestibule for gear. Plus it is in a VERY compact bag (which has a panel to expand the bag to get the darn thing in). Oooohh it's tempting.
Take lots of pics and don't forget the kitchen sink ;-)

Not many......it ended up a day trip due to many reasons. It was a big day, lots of hiking, not many pics.....had to go away this week for work, so when I am home tomorrow I will see what I got.

What was the snow quality like out there, plenty there still? We never got to have a look out the range last WE with the Charlotte road still closed.

Soft and slow. Had to hike all the way to Illawong and then some patches to Twynam. Once you get up the cover is good though soft. if the heat and rain continues there wont be much left in it.

Hi all,
I got out for a few turns last Saturday up at Falls Creek. There was still plenty of snow around and the sun was blazing in the arvo, and the snow was really nice as it didnt get the morning sun, just a nice level of slushiness!!
Here are some pics:
