Former Test batsman Dean Jones believes Shane Warne could be tempted out of retirement by the prospect of leading the Australian team, claiming he would do it "in a heartbeat". Link (http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=854147)

He makes more money commentating, playing poker and in the IPL than he would from playing again....it would also be harder work. The selectors will never ask him so it will never happen. I'd love to see it though.

He supposedly has a select group of people high up that would block him from that anyway.

If it was ever going to happen, it is now a couple of months too late.

He is just fine in the commentary box thank-you!

Did you all enjoy that final test by the way? :D

Or perhaps you're suggesting the pitch was doctored for the second innings and then un-doctored for the third ;)

Nah, pitch was same for both. We were outlplayed at key times and England took advantage, the aussies actually had better stats overall but didn't get those periods of individual brilliance that the poms had.

No different to the last Ashes in England.

Makes it all the more special when we win it back again 5-0.

I read that and as much as I would love for it to happen I cant see it happening

Agreed - I cant see the aussies winning 5-0 when the poms come out here next season. If the English can get their 3,4,5,6 positions sorted, then they could be a handful......It seems their only middle order certainties are KP and Trott......Bell is too soft, Collingwood is a hack and Bopara's record against "quality" bowling is pretty poor....

to many batting collapses is what lost it for us. oh and warnie would have been a very good creative captain but was to risky off field and now it is to late, a shame really.

yeah, he was great when he led the one day side, and had a very good record, his captaincy in county cricket and the IPL has been lauded also.

He might have been a good captain but I honestly didn't rate Warneys commentary. For me, he didn't really seem to say anything constructive. He seemed to bag the english players more then anything.
