I'm being a buit conservative with forecast amounts at the moment. With the charts being all over the place lately I'd prefer to add to it as we get closer than to take it away.

...and as I said ages ago...I was saving it up for my trip 7th-13th. ;)

Yes I agree Paul. An update about lunch time Saturday would be very considerate for all us SDS sufferers ;)

Update better today, and yes I will more than likely update again over the weekend with all the excitement that is around at the moment.

Praises to you Froggy.. preach to us about that holy white stuff.. we thrive on your sermons  Tell us about the evil highs pushing away the blessed lows.. but how good triumphs over evil.. and about the low that rose up when no one thought it could, and it blew those highs off the charts :cloud9: and rid us of all their evil.. DEMONS OUT!! Deliver to us thy :snow:

There will be a case changing hands, I just hope it is to me. I assume even JD hopes for that, and everyone else. ;)

Question to those in the know. Is Sunday predicted to be snowing to low levels from early in the day. The reason I ask is we are driving in to jindy on Sunday so if the nasty weather (if you can call such snow baring bliss that) is due to hit later I might try and drive family coopski in earlier in the day to avoid road chaos and chains etc.

Cheers for looking into the crystal ball for me ;-)
(don't you love my optimism for the need for chains in and around jindy. Cmon Huey I dare you! ;-)

To me it looks like the level will drop overnight Saturday, so Sunday morning we could see white roads :D

Snow level will be low all day Sunday. It will drop Saturday night. The snow level for Saturday now is 1400m. I would expect this to probably drop to 1300m in the forecasts by tomorrow morning. Just take the drive easy and enjoy the party. I think Sunday snow level is for 1000m. I would think snow will fall to around 600m Sunday and Monday. If everything goes the way it is shaping up to be, on the very optomistic side we could have my bet done and dusted by the snow report on Tuesday morning. VERY optomistic side of the equation

Thanks guys. I had an inkling that was the case. I think we will just enjoy the day in Canberra then come in slow in the arvo. Can't wait to drive the sexy x'y (xtrail) through bonnet deep stashes on the hill into jindy. Aaahhhhh a gal can dream.

In (insert year that I can't remember here, 05 maybe??) we drove our Xtrail through 10-20cm setlled on the road from Cooma to Jindy one Fri night. No chains just cautious driving....drove past many cars/trucks in ditches, had some idiot on our hammer, but the car was faultless.

And I bet she looked sexy the whole way.

Yep I'm happy she'll handle it fine. I've driven it on snow before. Plus I'll pick up chains this year (hmmmm or will that just jinx us) in cooma as my folks are traveling with us so they will need to get some for the commodore. Having the little man on board id rather be safe and have them with us. Heck if I can get a 2wd territory up 8km of ice on mt shutt without chains on i can do jindy ;-)

I've just had the wheels aligned and rotated today. The thought of what chains would do to that makes me twitchy!! Mind you I'm looking forward to driving the newish pirellis on the snow. I've found them to be awesome on and off road. Plenty of grip and so quiet.
