a few of us have decided to explore Vic. this season for a few days mid week in August.
as we have never been to a Vic resort, and are old-timing-dudes of the snowboarding variety.. i am asking for some of your suggestions on resort and accom. we have a surfing background (re: resort) and are there to snowboard (re: accom away from the genY's and Z's... pesky young whipper-snappers)
any info gladly accepted :D just any suggestions on Vic resorts and value accom...
thanks

I like the Whitt at the Ski Club of Victoria - see www.skivictoria.com.au (http://www.skivictoria.com.au). But when booking anywhere, find out if they've got school groups booked in that week. If you can endure 'down the hall loos', look at usc.com.au or the Whitt's sister lodge, Kandahar. Then upmarket places like the buller chalet or Pension Grimus - and no, "pension' has nothing to do with your age.

Carvit if your after self contained in falls creek Ive used mountainmultiservice (just google them and there website comes up-I always get it wrong when I type it). We had an awesome town house ski/board in and out and easy walking distance to pubs etc. I think it was called sunvalley 4 the one we stayed in. Had just been renovated but didn't cost us much either.

That's a shame carvit as we found it to be quite reasonable. Mind you we found it cheaper to leave the car at mt beauty and catch the coach up return (I think they were called pyles coaches and you can leave the car there for the week).
Mind you we toured NZ for 19 days in august 2 years ago and paid $1500 each for flights, car hire (ford territories) and all accommodation (stayed in some lovely places too-nothing cheap and cheerful) so I can highly reccommend the nz experience. :-)

I am spending the first week in August at my Falls Creek apartment, being Gen X myself I can seriously recommend it, seriously the Boarding and terrain parks at FC range from an easy beginners one to advanged and there is enough natural terrain to have a great stay, the Mountain Multiservice suggestion is good or you can rent one of my apartments if you like, there are plenty of options, let me know the make up of your group singles, couples etc and I can recommend some suitable apartments. I have stayed in most of the MMS ones over the years.

Oh and if you do wind up going to falls creek the skidoo tour up to mt mckay is a must! Super fun and awwwweeesome views.
We live in Sydney and the only reason we are not heading back to falls this year is due to age of our little one (easier to have him at jindy so we can take him for walks in pram vs ski in/out at falls so he would be a little house bound and go nuts). However we plan to go back next year as we really enjoyed the resort/village as a whole.
