And for any fellow NSWelshers who didn't notice, Anzac day public holiday will this year be the monday (last year and year before they took it away from us and the Pub holiday was when the day happened, not after like chrissy etc)

:woohoo: A long weekend :D

oh and Pods, if that is your main celebration about Anzac Day is the fact that you get a long weekend, I don't think your heart is quite in the right spot

Do you really think it is? If you do then how about i tell you some stories about my grandfather who went to war becuase his mother insisted he go and look after his little brother and 2 other brothers and was a sniper at gallipoli and was shot up the back and got gangrene on the hospital ship to cairo and instead of coming home as he was supposed to do and allowed to do sought a transfer to his oldest brothers unit so he could keep an eye on his youngest brother? He died in 1959 from the effects of shrapnel the Dr's couldn't get out near his spine back at Gallipoli.

You've got absolutely NO idea about my attitude to ANZAC day pol, none at all

Polaris

Fantastic then!!!!

Why wasn't that your 1st thought instead of a long weekend?

and to those that might say that the actions of our Anzacs allowed us to be a great country so we could have things like Public Holidays, I say BS

My 2c worth of thoughts

Ease up everyone, it's been a long week but it's almost over!

Enjoying a public holiday and remembering the sacrifices of the ANZACS don't have to be mutually exclusive. Being happy about getting a day off from work, certainly doesn't mean you have no respect for the reason you are getting the day off.

My 2c.

rning all,

Here we go with another year of ANZAC day emotions running high for all of us proud aussies.

I've always thought that ANZAC day should be observed on the day and respected for itself alone and not for the "day off", but lately I feel more inclined to think about what they all fought for and why they stuck together while the British used us as battering rams and I have to say that the right to take a day off with your mates is probably a battle worth fighting for. It's what sets us Aussies apart from the world...our ability to relax and have a laugh, share some memories and thank the people who thought these things were (and still are) worth fighting for...and giving their lives for...

we are a lucky country indeed.

Everyone celebrates it differently and for different reasons (many of which are no-ones business but our own). No one is right or wrong and if we start bickering about it...or even "one upping" we fly in the face of it's purpose.

and yet, every year, on this forum and others it happens...pity...

Every year, I go to the dawn service at Drummoyne then pick up fresh pastries and spend the day with my family doing very little with the march on the telly in the background. Others do more, others do less and that aint my business.

Pods, I only responded as your 1st post can only be read as focussing on the " :woohoo: long weekend" part this years upcoming Anzac day.

Wouldn't even consider trying to "think what I am thinking", I can only respond to what is there in black and white

The only insult I can see is you telling me to be quiet. I would have thought that as an many generations Aussie with relatives who served, I am more than entitled to have my preconceived ideas of what Anzac Day means to me and again, I never would even try and think what anybody is trying to say, just what I can see.

Legs, we should be nothing but be very ****ing proud on Anzac Day, have a beer and a game of 2 up and remember what it stands for. I will not back down on that

My 2c worth which I am entitled too and I am not trying to force it down anybodies throat. If you think I am then read my signature

Good afternoon, Friday afternoon at that!:)

About to jump in the car and take Princess BF to weigh in for the Qld Open International Judo Championships. Then after that I will visit my father in 'horsepiddle'.

Tomorrow I will sit all day at the judo comp and in between, if there is time, visit my Dad again. Sunday I will sit at the boys AFL pre-season friendly games (not so friendly last week when one of those boys tried to punch my son - didn't like being tackled and beaten- plebchild!)

So, I'll be too busy to drink - which I feel like doing!

One week until a week's holidays. :D

My Dad's mother is gravely ill and going to pass any day now - he is too ill to go to Perth to give her a funeral, so I am on call, ready to go at the drop of a hat, to organise a funeral, clean out her home and put her affairs in order.:frown:

Sick of this diet - give me some motivation to continue someone somewhere! 6kgs down, but it's soooooo slow! My +1 has become a metabolic burning machine, lost 15 kgs, getting fit and toned through weight training - looks good - just ask him, he'll tell you himself!!!:banghead:

Have I distracted everyone enough from the other stuff yet?:snow:

I'm still having a beer Xena :D

You sound like one legendary Super Mum/Daughter/Wife all rolled into one

If you can't have a drink I'll have one for you

Legolas

tyrpical Friday for you then eh Xena?

motivation? I dunno...try losing three kilos then putting them back on in a week!!! You are doing an awesome job. I bet you look and feel great and bugger the motivation!! do it for yourself and how good you feel!!!

:says she of the Friday evemning blue cheese platter followed by burgers and accompanied by waaaaaaaay too much Verdelho and Pinot Gris..

Home from Princess' weigh in and the horsepiddle. He looks terrible - I can't make it sound real that he has gone from looking like a solid, strong 63 year old who protectively guarded over his family, to a wasted shell who looks 93yrs old and requires 24 hr care - it hasn't taken even 1 year to age 30. All his tests have come up clear....again - MRI, abdomen CT, lumbar puncture, blood tests. He is a mystery to a team of about 7 specialists.

Might as well go for a jog now - can't be worse than seeing my Dad fading before my own eyes. (besides of which I did eat some hot chips and a half a McFlurry with Princess)

Sorry to hear your dad hasn't improved Xena :(

With the weight loss side of things, have you measured yourself? Apparently as you get closer to your goal weight it gets harder to shift the last few kg on the scales, but your fitness regime may actually be reducing your measurements, just not your weight on the scales.

Any chance the exercise you're doing is more muscle building than fat burning?
