No
Yeeeeeeeeeessss - you were right!
I have booked my flights to France this week.
I have started looking at accomodation in Paris.
I have promised I will be at the slide and am almost ready to book the flights.
I keep looking at snow p0rn.
http://warmtinny.com/gallery2/d/112144-2/R0013566.JPG
I sit and stare at the snowless mountian, looking at the runs I do and plan new lines to take. Making mental notes of where the most snow will build up and where natural features present interesting riding.
I do watch the odd SNOcam video ;)
BTW they started mowing the groomed trails yesterday, the snowgums are shedding bark and the grass has stoped growing.

Not so much SDS, but looking forward to spending quality time with you all down there and chilling out afterwards with some Red and stuff
Looking forward to the girls weekend annual event on Opening weekend :woohoo::biggrin:
I was just out driving in the ice storm that hit Melbourne. I'm cured of SDS for now:happy:

Well, as embarassing as it is to have to admit this, I got excited enough to take a photo last week when I was defrosting the freezer and the ice looked a bit like a snowy mountain range. I know I'm a sad case.

Not a fool at all. Snow deprivation syndrome (or any other combination of words meaning the same thing).
To answer the question, I go skiing.
in that case, i am gravely ill with sds

Been exercising and losing weight to get ready, so hopefully for the first time I will not be uncomfortable in my ski clothes. Also hoping to get a bit fitter for slack country.

SA, nice to see some snow without a blardy skiier making a big fluffy mess out of it!
Snowhite as long as you didn't go so far as making little skis out of paddle pop sticks (painted cream with pink flowers on) and sticking little people on them.
...Snowhite...you didn't did you??????????????
Just got the letter from school about interschools Perisher 14-17 July. Seems as good an excuse as any to book a weekend in! even if we will have been there first week July

Yeah, feeling the SDS now. It's that time of year I guess. I found myself wandering around the ski shops yesterday and there's some good deals around right now. I was so tempted to buy new everything
Chris, when you get here sds won't be cured until it snows.
Legs, I don't have a choice. The best 2 months for surfing are about here, I missed surfing this time last year because I was preparing to move and now because I had to fall back to 'planC'
[planA - move to Japan. planB - buy a motor home or caravan and live on beach]
plan A,B and C all end the same way - in the snow.
I have double sds (snow deprived syndrome and surf deprived state)
25 and I got the skis out today. Just to look, you understand. Watea 84s for me and 25's Salomon Mai Tais. both great looking skis.
as for planning - we haven't got anything booked yet, and we will need advice on how to do a family snow getaway. 2.4 will be around 7 months at the start of the season. can they ski at that age?
We are hoping to get to methven/mount Hutt in september, and we are currently researching airlines and their ski carrying deals.
all of this doesn't help. any excuse to get on snowjapan, or whistlerblackcomb, or watch the winter olympics, i have been taking it.
2.4 will be around 7 months at the start of the season. can they ski at that age?
Old enough to stand, old enough to ski as far as I'm concerned.
A girl I know in Vancouver had a baby recently, it had a season pass at about 1 month old.
I know of this great program called "Mother-In-Law-minds-the-baby-while-you-go-away-and-ski". Or, you pay for her to come along with you and babysit in the day while you ski. This program is available all over the world!!!

At least some of you live much closer to the snow than us :(

:big_laugh: A touch young I would have thought.
Anyway, yesterday I went gear shopping (purely window shopping ;))
Today, I waxed my skis. Just in case.

The only prerequisite to such a fantastic program is the fact that you must have a mother-in-law
I'd rather paid for a full time babysitter instead

Good babysitting ideas there Xena, its what im doing during school holidays while im off drinking and partying at uni.. Woops I mean studying...
Window shopping... mmmm Its my anniversary and birthday before Ski Season and I would like a LOUD Jacket... *Hint Hint* *yes i know you'll read this** So If i dont get it....****
24, as far as Im aware (Spaz probably knows more) backpacks are not allowed or highly frowned upon in Australian Resorts. Heard some horrible stories about bouncing necks and injuries when I worked for Thredbo.
Both Thredbo and Perisher have Child Care Centres and I have heard Perishers, has been upgraded and is an awesome place for the tackers.

Backpacks on chair lifts or surface lifts are very much NOT allowed in NSW resorts (can't speak for Vic or tas).

Booked a lovely place in jindy for a week in august about 3 weeks ago though there is now a possibility we are off to London for 6 months. The thought of two summers in a row is not helping my SDS. We even had my parents coming along to mind the little guy.

I'm a bit late on this thread! But I've got a classic case of SDS and to help ease the symptoms I go skiing almost every weekend in winter and a couple of weeks in august not to mention the new addition of Japan skiing in the middle of summer :D I also talk to anyone who is interested (or half interested!) about skiing, snow and all that good white stuff!
Woo hoo! My helmet cam just arrived! Now all I need in 2 AA batteries, a bigger memory card ... and bill Gates' phone number.
And I always have fun cutting costs of operations in the mtns.

At this point, the mother in law is coming to NZ with us in september so 25 and I can ski Mt hutt. I'm hoping we can get down before that.
As some on this forum will remember, 2.4 went skiing when he was 3 months from due - in July in Thredbo. He already knows what he is doing, and will be a skier
Can't wait to teach him to ski seriously though. I think it would be one of the great joys.
Made sure the skis are ready to go last month.
Booked time off work last week, now in the process of sorting out accommodation.

Yep...SDS here...looking at skis on the net :DAs you know what is on most websites is what we had in our racks for sale last year here in Australia, particularly in the case of K2 which are radically different skis for this year, I will have quite a few of the 2011 skis for Demo once the good snow is here, I know you will like some of the early rise K2 skis.
Packing your bags for 3 weeks in the US eh? I think you should go skiing instead!
He's a gear hore so it takes him forever to pack.
I will have quite a few of the 2011 skis for Demo once the good snow is here, I know you will like some of the early rise K2 skis. What dates and what resorts. And what about Buller - we've got Lindsay Vonn's sponsors and a bank lined up for demo day and give aways.
John Deere
10-03-2010, 02:13 PM
Vet, I think Paul was referring to his shop demo stock...so whatever date you like at whatever resort you like, as long as you make arrangements to pick up and drop off at Pauls in Wodonga!
He might have to come ski Tahoe over Easter then. I really want to see him reach 143kmh - faster than Vonn I think, but she's just a girl. :big_laugh:

That wasn't Paul, it was his mate.
With the 10% GPS factor it is quite conceivable for a decent skier.

SDS...Yep..feeling like I have had enough warm weather and starting to enjoy the cooler change that is slowly creeping into the air!:cold:
How I cope with SDS:
STEP 1: Have just booked a week at Smiggins ...so now I feel a lot better:D..but a lot poorer!!
STEP 2: Get skis waxed
STEP 3: Get the kids to try on their ski boots and gear
STEP 4: Discover that Ski boots for kids are too small and grimace at the thought of having to get new ones ...might be able to do hand down from no: 1 to no: 2 child if I am lucky
STEP 5: Deal with the questions about no: 1 child wanting to cross over to the dark side...no...not that..snowboarding!!
STEP 6: Window shopping for stuff I really dont need but would love to have.
STEP 7: Plan more time at the snow
Step 8: Start hoarding skiiers candy for the season
STEP 9: Start thinking about how I can hide $$$ around the house so it wont look so bad in the bank account when winter comes!!
AHHH now I do feel better and the snow just seems that little bit closer!!!:sled:
Nothing makes me feel better!!!!!!!!!:we_need_snow:

I have a teddy bear money box that I put all my spare change into. His name is Lift Ticket Teddy. When my purse gets full of change I just empty it into the money box. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry and have put my purse away before getting change I just throw it into my handbag. So when my handbag starts feeling heavy I empty the change into Lift Ticket Teddy. I've got over $600 in 11 months just by doing this. That's over half way to my season pass. :)

Book a trip Shorty for March 2011. Atm (like most years, there's deals like Alpine Meadows. "Purchase one all day ticket for $69 and receive a second adult all day ticket for free".;)
