Thought I would start this thread on snowkiting.

Last year +1 did quite a bit of it, here are some pics.

Anyone else looking at doing it?

Looked like a lot of fun when we saw it at Hakuba, I found out too late that it was something like $120 for a half day to try it out.

I have only heard about it. How strong does the wind have to be?

Oh I worte up a whole post in here before but it didn't work.

Kite boarding - Yes - Want to try it. If the snow is good enough and they are running lessons again this year at Hotham I may go have some lessons.

Kite Surfing - Will be my new summer thing along with wake boarding.

Last year a company did a free trial day at Thredbo, well - out beyond Thredbo, basically in line with the Kozi lookout area.

May be they might do it again this year. They had all sizes of kites, I will ask around if they are doing it again.

Wind strength does not have to be strong, to learn you only need a light breeze, it will take you quickly to Charlottes Pass and back again.

Access Kite is the one we use a 6metre Access 2.

Done kite surfing before and its fun. Kire boarding would be a fair bit easier I think, since you can use smaller foil kites and less wind to get movement.

I heard Mt Loch is the best place to do it outside of Hotham?

I have done a fair bit of snowkiting also and am always interested to hook up with any other experienced kiters/ski tourers looking to tour the backcountry with kites.

I think that would depend on the wind conditions Golfpunk.
