Golden Point & Avalanche Gully are both easy runs to do and won't take you more than two hours.

Have you done Av gully Tobes? It is not an easy ski, very steep (and they dont call it av gully for nuthin ;) )
The hike out is um.....difficult!
Nope not yet.
Am hoping to do it this season snow providing!!!
I've been told the hike out is MUCH easier if you go towards the dirty bird instead of up the ridge.
Although I'm thinking of going completely 'slack country' and paying off a friend with a skidoo to come pick me up.
Oh and when I meant easy I meant close.

Mt Loch first, from top of Orchard
Spargos Hut, then down towards the base of Blue Ribbon, cross the creek and back to the base of the Village quad.

av gully is espesh hard carrying 2 sets of skis!
kudos .. u know who u are!
Razorback Ridge has easy access, especially if u use skins. Its not too steep but there is a creek at the bottom which u could slide into when you fall. Late in the day the sun goes off the slope and the snow hardens up making the hike out treacherous (as happens everwhere).

The easiest backcountry near Hotham is at the back of the Hotham Summit. It's only a very small hike/skate from the lifts or the road. If you travel parralel to the road along the ridge you'll end up at the top of this (i don't know its name):

This pic was in crap snow conditions, so in August it should be sweet!
From here all you need is your mate to pick u up and u can du it all over again!

Mt Loch is behind the Orchard. There are some nice little spots out there for the real beginners to back country...and a well marked trail. Some sweet steeper lines for those who want them, and some places to camp out of the wind.

that line off the back of the summit is sweeeeet in fresh snow. Wait for the sun to hit it for a little bit then go nuts.
skin up to the road and hitch back up the hill.

Thank you
I've never used them before because i don't have the right ski bindings, but they're things that go on the base of your skis that allow you to walk upslope in your skis without sliding downhill. Essentially they make the ski base grippy. You take them off at the top of the run and put them on at the bottom. It's often easier to use skins instead of taking your skis off and hiking uphill.
