I'm told by our favourite ff card that my 5/5 bonuses will arrive end of January. Hope you guys go as well. Now I have to find out if you book ff seats 11 months in advsnce.

You can book FF seats 12 months ahead.
I haven't seen any deposits, and I'm waiting on this guy from the special department at FF to get back to me ! I told him he better get back to me!

PS: Velocity will be launching something in February to lure people away from Qantas 'direct earn' cards. I hope there's bonuses on bonuses!!!!

Just back from shopping: $75 padded bag, $299 phats, $30 beer, $12 balm, $25 fuel, $25 groceries, tons of stuff. Now my card's stopped working! Can I borrow yours Yeti???

Yup I was told to wait 8-10 weeks to get my FF points credited to my account - tough day on the AMEX today....6 transactions all less then $10 :)
I'm glad I got in early: and argued they were stuck with ponying up for pages and pages of these bizarre $1 lottery points. Somehow there was a flights-worth per day sent manually by Amex's own staff to Velocity/Amex's "Win Flights" lottery. Dumb lottery - the gaming commission thought Amex were stuck too and took a statement. Or may I was just confused.
Now to see if +1 gets bonuses without even being enrolled. :D
You could aways make some room on your card early Vet and use it again. ;)
I have a low limit and keep sending money up front - but it takes 3 - 5 business days for e-pays to clear!!! Egadds, time is running out til the end of the promo!
Went to the bank today to apply for a home loan with +1 ...... they asked what my credit limits were for my credit cards.....eh gawds I didn't realise I had so much credit! I mean we pay off our cards in full every month but geez I don't know anyone that would put 20k on a card in one sitting...ringing up my credit card companies now to make my limits more "realistic".
Geez credit card companies really want people to go into credit card debt - I guess if they are charging 20%+ interest, the more people they get, the more profits they can make...
If you have a card, car loan, o/draft etc from XBank and a mortgage from XBank, the card etc debt is actually secured by your mortgage. So far only Hilary Clinton wanted XBank to lower the rate to the home loan rate because, as she and Obama said in Reno last January, Struggle Street are living/drowning off these cards.
Withdrawing cash via credit cards is THE WORST thing to do....sky high interest rates ...... an unsecured loan with a bank is a more attractive proposition.
Just rang up Citibank to find out what program they will be offering given the current rewards program will no longer be affiliated with Qantas FF post April.
Apparently in January they will be sending a letter to current customers advising them of a new program which will allow people to transfer their rewards points to Qantas FF after April....Will still be 1 point per $1 which is nice....

You'll probably pay a premium for it though.
At the moment I get $1 = 1.50 points
After 1 April, I can elect to be on MR, and only use Velocity, kris flyer etc.
Or I can be Qantas only, $1 = 1.25 points ..
At a high premium.
Platinum credit card over here is $0, while ours back at home is $395/year. Vet, you'll have to get one when you come over here, I haven't linked mine to MR back in AU yet ;)
I thought Citibank Platinum had 15k minimum blocks for transferring so if I had 39,999, only 15,000 could actually be used. Ouch.
Meantime I'm hoping Velocity offer nice bonuses to lure us away from Jetstar/Qantas.

At this rate, I may even fly with AC to come home direct to avoid LAX or SFO mayhem. So that will cost $, not points! Wonder if my bonus points will ever come through!!
If you have any trouble, p.m me Yeti. In the 90s, a guy I know successfully relied on a bank's allegations of fraud to keep $15m off the bank. The bank's QC was gobsmacked. I think there's many ways to skin a cat.
I see from AFF people expecting 500k+ are getting 'suspension' letters dated 18/12/08. Hope none of you guys are.

Citibank Platinum allows transfers of points in blocks of 10,000 - well mine does anyway.

With AMEX its 1.5 points for $1, mind you if you use the card enough you can ring up and get the annual fee waived...I do it every year smile.gif
Blocks of exactly 10,000 or 15000 is a con imo. At least Amex and Velocity have a 2k minimum and they'll let you transfer all your points.
As I'm only interested in north California, it looks like Virgin/Velocity will be our carrier/points scheme for, eg Syd-Honalulu-Sacramento in 2010.

I rang AMEX and told them it's a joke and unprofessional, I want my points, and I want someone to fix it up, I said it's not good enough that I'm being stuffed around and threatened to cancel my cards with AX.
I rang amex and they confirmed that everyone receives their points by mid-Feb.......

Just back from, amongst others, Beer Wine Spirits BWS Shop - the rep says they had Amex txs declined until they downloaded new software. I'm tempted to claim lots of txs that Amex wouldn't go thru for. ;)
Rough calculations = 5 1/2 flights to California.

The ski club fees came out of the blue to push the transactions up to 119 txs for December. Oh I hope Safeway put the $1.35 sparklers thru so I get 120.000 bonuses!!!
I got 110,000 points added yesterday. Makes a total of about 220,000 so far. Only another 800,000 need be posted !!

Over on AFF, a velocity rep RickyRiccardo, has, somehow, republished afresh an out-of-date offer of 50% bonuses. I hope he changes the expiry date of '2008' to '2009' and maybe there's another 50% bonus offer coming soon. 50% = 2 free flights for moi.
Also on AFF, one person claimed they put bonuses into either QFF or Velocty and later Amex took them back. I'm glad I'm not in that boat.

I believe Amex is getting calls from regulators and partners. I believe Amex will stuff something big if they don't adhere to the 31 Jan deadline for ALL bonuses.
And when they hit your account, leave them there til we find out what the 'outta this world' promo will be about.
The gaming commish rang to say they found 'issues'. Hmmm, I felt these promos (5/5 and Win Flights) were questionable. So will I get about about 55000 extra bonuses in leiu of the 'September lottery entries'/bonuses' which the operational problems stopped from going to Velocity?

Amex rang me to say i will have a letter this week with the results of their review. Wouldn't tell me the answer, I expect they left me on 5000/10 trans, that would not be accepted. Off then To FSO I go.
From aff, it looks like those who went to fos.org.au are getting 5/5 despite multi-enrolling. POC'd points are re-given too by the sounds of things.
Just reviving this thread as I *finally* got my points from the infamous 5,000 points for 5 transaction promotion.
I think if I hadn't hounded them on a near-daily basis, I would still be stuck on 0 points......
