So here goes with the standard 'what skis should i buy?' question.

25 is a lower advanced skier (difficult to define, but she will ski anywhere in australian resorts including in trees etc, and has done 6 days in niseko powpow). We are going back to japan for 2 weeks in Feb, and would like to take some skis of our own. She currenty skis some rossi attraxion 1's in a 154, which she likes as they are great carvers for someone her weight (60kg), not too stiff so can handle most conditions australia throws at you.

However, not really wide enough for japan we think.

So the brief - she places a high level of importance on low weight. She is after around an 80 or so underfoot - a freeski or twintip i guess. She doesn't want some short mens ski - something with a bit of feminine style would be ideal, but basically something designed for a female skier.

Any advice on skis to check out and demo would be much appreciated.

Thanks all for your help in advance. graemlins/snow_cool.gif

Hey 24, the attraxion 1s will be ok for Japan, the attraxion 3s will probably be better, remember they are a bit wider and stiffer underfoot for more advanced skier, may have to ski them a little harder then the 1s.

Hmmm, I must say that for Japan I would be looking for a good platform, I used this year my K2 Phat Luvs, the ones before the wider 09 version.

But now that I have tried and bought the K2 Miss Behaved, I am hooked, it carves on the firmer stuff and screams through the crud, yet floats on elephant snot and Australian powder. I have the 159 and think they are more than enough.

See if you can demo some K2's. The size of mine are 130-98-118

Here is a good link to size up different skis.

good luck

25 says that is maybe way to fat - i tend to agree?

it sounds awfully big. is the missdemeanor a similar ski but a more sensible width? she was thinking of demoing the 159 of that ski.

have you tried them sjs?

What about the Miss Demeanours? they are mid 80's underfoot and light. I skied them in Japan last year and loved them on and off piste. Obviously all of your turns are longer, so not super short turns on piste, though they do ROCK at big GS turns on the groomed! :D Loved them in the pow too.

I have to say that I am on Volkl Aura's and I LOVE them on and off piste here, haven't skied them OS yet, but will in Feb.

Put my Fritschi bindings on them to head BC, still to break them in that way, but so far resort skiing is AWESOME and they are 130-94-113mm

thanks for the review pods. 25 is leaning more and more towards the miss demeanours. starting to think that since there are a few around from last season at a good price, she should just grab some and not bother with demo.

the Salomon Mai Tai (spelling?) is the other contender at this stage.

I'll be skiing on the new Head Wild One skis at the end of August, will give you a review back then if you are interested.

Problem with the Wild One is that there are not alot of reviews around for them at the moment, but from what I did read I think they'll do exactly just about anything, which is just what I want them for.
