We start our trek from Katherine NT to Hotham on Wednesday 18 June. We will spend the 19 June in Melbourne, staying in a hotel neay Southern Cross Train Station.

Are there any good ski shops nearby or near tram stops?

Thanks

Nick

Altitude in Elizabeth street would be the best of them near your motel.

alphabetically in the city...

Altitude - Elizabeth St
Auski - Hardware lane
Capital 17 (snowboard) - Hardware Lane
Rider plus - cnr bourke and elizabeth

Little bourke st has a few outdoor stores with clothing etc... but skis & boots at the above stores...

Bumps is a 5 minute walk up glenhuntly road from elsternwick station

EMC in deepdene i think is accessible by tram out on whitehorse road...

I always suggest Altitude over Auski as the prices are so much better at Altitude.
Altitude is a good place to shop as well because they have shops at Mansfield and at Mount Buller, so if anything needs adjusting while at Buller it can be done by them.

Rider plus is good for Snowboards and 4FRNT skis, and generally have good prices.

Thanks for the help.

That should keep us busy for a while!

Jump on a tram up Bourke street from your hotel. Get off at the corner of Bourke & Elizabeth streets.

Walk back over Elizabeth street and up the hill and the first lane way onthe right is hardware lane. Here you will find Ausski & capital 17 but as Paul said can sometimes be over priced. I've never really received great service.

Walk down lane way to the next little street this is Little Bourke. Here you will find a HEAP of outdoor stores.

Walk back down to Elizabeth street and turn left and Altitude is about 20 metres towards Lonsdale street.

Once you finished head back to the corner of Bourke & Elizabeth and you have Rider+ & Helly Hanson in the Galleria shopping centre on the first floor.

Have fun and don't spend too much.

have to say I prefer the other stores over others. Have had some fabulous service at some, and some of the most arrogant ..%^$& at another place that ..... enough said!
