Hi Guys,
have recently purchased a Giro G10 helmet and was just interested to see if anybody has any recommendations as to specific goggles that fit well with them as i currently have Oakley widoms and unfortunately the bars on them cause them to be pushed down my face when wearing a helmet.
I am going down to the show with the helmet to try a few on in the next week but any recommendations on a quality goggle (preferably under $200) that would suit would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Most Smith goggles fit well with Giro helmets
just bought a G10, they work well with my Rip Curl goggles. grey helmet with white goggles with grey reflective lenses looks great too!

take your helmet and go try on some goggles! I use Smith Triads but they are older than the hills! A newer model would still be good but try them out!
Oakley A Frames fit incredibly nicely with my Giro Fuse Helmet.

I have used smith fuse with a g10 and it was good fit. They also fit with a protec assault.
What fits one person doesn't always fit someone else. Try as many brands and models as possible with your helmet on, as you suggested, to get the best fit.
Just went through the same exercise with +1.
Took about an hour of trying and retrying to find the right ones.
Luckily we know the owners of the shop really well. :D

Cheers Matt a lot of goggles will be compatible with the G10 helmet, it is best to find a goggle that fits the shape of your face as well, so as others have suggested take your helmet with you and try a few goggles on, and then when you find one that fits your face shape, then see if they fit with the helmet, almost all modern goggles will.
A new one to look out for this year is the Carerra Cup, it has the same lens as the Kimerik but is only $89.95.

Matt, I've got a G10, I wear Spy Optics or Oakley A frames and they both fit perfectly under the helmet... Hope that helps.

Thanks all for the suggestions... as i said i plan to go down and try a few on i just thought it would be worth while to find out a few different models that would be worth keeping an eye out for...
Thanks again for all the input, it is much appreciated. Cheers

Matt I had the same dilemma. As everyone has said take the helmet to the ski shop and try on as many as you can until you find one that is comfortable and fits. I took over an hour to come up with my choice. A pair of Oakley Stockholms. Yes they are designed for the female market and being a 100kg male they probably would look random being worn just with a beanie but they were the ONLY pair I tried on (I would have tried on at least 30 pairs of goggles) that fitted so I went with them and I dont have a regret in the world.

Sorry Matt I forgot to say that my helmet is a Fuse NOT a G10

I wear smith phenom and some scott goggles with my G10.
But as has already been said, most new goggles will work with a G10. Get goggles that fit your face

I'm looking for a helmet at the moment to wear with my Kimerik's. I've narrowed the helmet down to the G10, however my face is small, so my normal kimeriks fit perfectly with the G10, except the nose piece on the goggles squashes my nose so I can't breath :(
Think I need the Small face kimeriks if I get a helmet.

Smith phenom's are great.. joshwa. great peripherial vision, and i wear these with a giro helmet as well. Very good fit.
Does anyone else feel pressure to be good once you are wearing a helmet? this will be my first year skiing with one, and hot diggity, i suddenly feel like i should be one of those dudes pulling mad tricks in a terrain park, or whatever it is the kids are doing these days. graemlins/cold.gif

mate thats far from the truth, if your wearing a helmet, it says to me that you general care about your cranium, who cares about tricks if you crack your head... smile.gif

I don't like the look or feel or them but after a newly married guy with new baby died after he lost it and hit a tree last year at Blue Cow I thought it was the only responsible thing to do. It would be fair on my family if I was gone due to being worried about how I looked. Also with Tadpoles now I should set a good example if they have to wear them so should I.

Good to hear Frog. Not only your kids but people who use this site may well look up to you also and think if "The Frog" is wearing one, so will I. Maybe not the coolest thing on earth but the more people who wear helmets the less people will die on the slopes, like that Father at Blue Cow last year.
Last year was the first time I wore a lid also and to be honest with you, after 30 mins or so I didn't even realise I had it on. Was so comfortable (not as comfortable as just a beanie of course) and yes 24 I did have a bit more confidence but not enough to go and try hucking tricks in the park I knew I couldn't do.

I'll be trying a helmet this year as well, don't feel it will improve my confidence that much and I'm not that worried about looks either, just want to attach my helmet camera to it and see how well it works in the snow.

I am wearing a helmet for the first time this year after an accident at Falls Ck last year. Just a small spill, but I wacked the back of my head and ended up blacking out for a few seconds. When I came to, I couldn't not remember where my accommodation was or even what mountain I was on (I knew I was somewhere in the snow). Luckily my long term memory was intact, and I could remember my name and who my wife was (who was hysterically flagging down ski patrol). I went down to Mt Beauty for the night for obs with a suspected bleed on the brain...all was ok in the end. So I have no issues with wearing a helmet. In my opinion, anyone who chooses not to wear a helmet because it my compromises how 'cool' they look has got rocks in their head.
Some advice on Oakley wisdoms - get the helmet strap. The helmet strap allows my wisdoms to go around my helmet and fit very snugly indeed.
Dr Cuc.
yeah its not so much that i think it adds confidence, i guess i used to think the people with helmets were the great skiers. not anymore!
glad to hear there are a few others. My motivation is similar to yours mr frog... although no kids yet. I need to look after myself for 25's sake. and she for me :D

i only started wearing a helmet a few years ago as it was a requirement of going on school snow trips and for racing purposes. I got sick of wearing Buller's terrible hire helmets and bought one myself with the intention of wearing only when i had to or if i planned to do something risky. However, now i don't find myself skiing a single second without it as it just feels weird and abnormal.. i would certainly agree that it provides a lot more confidence..

honestly comes down to face shape.
The G10 is one of the most goggle-compatible helmets, so find a pair of goggles that fit well on your face (except oakley wisdoms) and they will probably have a good compatibility with the G10.

I'd love to buy a helmet but they are just to pricey. And because I ski with a school group (where we have to wear them) I get a hire one free. But they look so lame I would rather a decent one. The G10 looks great tho....if only I could get one cheap.
They're not too pricey when you think about what they protect.
There is a lot of important information in there.
How to walk, how to talk, what your name is.....etc

Yeah I understand that Dr D but I am saying that I really dont need a helmet when I get a hire one for free each year. A G10 WOULD look cooler tho. The students would be impressed lol.
