A mate who skis once a year for about a week wants to update his gear. He is currently on Rossi straights in 185 and a pair of Koflach boots in the red with flouro yellow buckles

His ski budget is going to absolutely top out at $500 and is looking for a really good intermediate/upper intermediate all mountain ski - 2nd hand

I told him that I thought he'd probably pick up something about 2-3 years old in pretty good nick for that money, but it seems there's not alot out there right at the moment. There's time as he's not skiing till late August, but what can you suggest might fit the bill?

He's 6'1" - 6'2", about 105-110kgs and has been skiing for about 15+ years, although as I said, for short bursts. He's a confident all mountain skier but not lightning fast by any measure.

happy to hear what you think.

I could do a brand new Fischer Move 5.5 with bindings for that amount, I know you said 2nd hand, but that is the best I can offer.
At that height and weight you need to be really sure about which ski you pick as not many will have good edge hold for a person over 100Kg.

I have a set of Atomic SX7 as well but I am fairly sure he would be too heavy for them.

I also do know about a set of used Head Monster skis that a guy from my ski lodge is trying to sell for around $350 they are in excellent condition.

thanks - those Monsters would prob go very close to fitting the bill. Do you have the model of them?

I'll have a chat to Bryan and get back to you

and thanks for your offer as well smile.gif

They are Monster 70 in a 170cm length with Tyrolia railflex bindings, They have been sitting in my shop out the back all last season, and I had forgotten about them, they do have some minor base scratches but otherwise in good nick.
