Hi again, I know I've hit this site pretty hard in recent days with technical questions, but I live in Perth; I have to get my fix somehow smile.gif . You cant even buy skis in this town! Only snowboards

History: I've had the same pair of Salomon Evolution 7 boots for 15 years. They've seen me through snow plows, basic stem christies, skidding parallels and carving.

I've looked at a few US based websites and I ski at a level 7 (described below):

7. "You are now able to link confident parallel turns and are comfortable skiing on most black runs. Steeper and icy slopes may cause you to lose a little of your style, but you are still able to get to the bottom in one piece. You have now started to get the feeling of ‘carving’ your turns and this has brought a whole new dimension to your skiing."

Whilst the Evo 7 boots are ok now, they initially caused me enormous pain in the right instep. To be fair, My instep is oddly shaped due to a hockey ball injury inflicted when I was 14. I am now 35, 163 cm tall and 72 kg.

Based on this advice can you suggest a starting point for buying a new pair of boots? 1st they need to be comfortable - so injection moulding to accommodate my munted foot is an option I have considered. 2nd If at all possible, would like them to improve my skiing....if this is possible when you ski at my level.

Any help appreciated. Will be in Christchurch in July, so may consider purchasing....

Many thanks,

Dr Cuc.

Christchurch isn't really near the snow, but purchasing "on snow" is great if you can, as you are then able to ski in the boots, have them adjusted immediately, ski again etc etc etc.

My advice is get yourself over to Syd or Melb and go to a real good quality boot fitter who knows what they're doing. Given you obviously hang onto your stuff a while, the cost of travelling for good boot fitting is quite small when stretched over the life of the boots
