View Full Version : Nordica Supercharger Blower
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had any feedback/experience with this boot. I noticed that Paul stocks it (at least, from your website it looks that way!). I had a bootfitting session a while back at my local skishop in Sydney, and these boots were a revelation - it was the first time i had put on boots that really fit me brilliantly well.
Obviously fit is a personal thing, but given these boots are so high end (and exxey!), any info would be great - ie is the hard foam going to be too fatiguing, is it not really appropriate to an intermediate skier pushing towards advanced, any other stuff...
For the record at the moment I ski in a Rossi entry level boot (Salto I think) which needs to be too tight to stop me moving around in. Also i can lift my heal in them whilst skiing a fair bit.
Thanks heaps! smile.gif

I have the Supercharger Ignition, and although there are significant differences between the ignition and blower, I'm stoked with the boots. - The Ignitions are essentially the Same boot as the Nordica Beast 10

The shop in Sydney that has them in stock is probably the best place to buy them, good boot fitting shops rarely discount boots that are in season, so you have to decide do you want this great boot and have it fitted well, or maybe get it cheaper somewhere else and take a chance that it will be not fitted right, at the moment I charge $100 per hour to work on boots not purchased at my shop, and that is fairly standard if the boot fitter is half decent.
Good shops also offer a fit guarantee, so you don't have much to loose if it is not fitting right when you go to use them.

Cheers guys,
thanks paul. the shop is a great one (alpsport west ryde), and as you say do all that sort of thing. totally worth it in my opinion rather than ordering online.
Do you know if there are similar boots i should be trying, based on the knowledge that these boots fit so well? I think it was the fact that they hed my narrow heal well, but still had good room for my wide, flat front foot area thing.
I noticed they were quite light also - Silence are the ignitions the same?

^ Ironically thats where I work during the season and thats where I got the ignitions haha
I haven't worked on the blowers, as we didn't have then last season. Assuming the last is the same on the ignitions as the blowers (which i'm quite sure it is) and the main differences are flex and liner - then it sounds like we could have quite similar feet. I found the heel hold and liner in the Nordica's to be excellent.
You could try the Salomon Impact 9 (Although I think you won't get the same heel hold that you will in the Nordicas), Speedmachine 12 (3mm narrower in the forefoot though, so depending on the width of your foot, may be too narrow)..
THe top end HEAD edge series is excellent fron the standpoint of increased volume over the instep, and really wide forefoot (104mm from memory)..could be an option, but If you are fitting into the Superchargers well, then you may not need the extra width..
They are an excellent boot.
Based on the Ignitions being 2 levels lower in flex, and a step down in Liner - I can't fault them, so I see no faults in the Blowers - providing they offer a good fit.

cheers mate.
To be honest I actually don't know for certain they were the blowers - are the ignitions the same colour? the blowers were the only ones i could find piccies of, and they looked right, and i kinda assumed they were the ones i had on.
I remember the nordica and the supercharger bit, but i didn't remember any other logo...
have to find time to get in there again on a weekend...
thanks for the info silence!
actually silence are you able to pm me or post some pics? would love to see'em...
Hi All,
went back to the trusty ski shop this weekend and found out that what i had tried on was a Nordica Hot Rod Top Fuel - It looks exactly the same as the supercharger, but i'm wondering if anyone knows about it - ie is this an older name for essentially the same boot, are there improvements, etc etc...
Cheers again...

I have Nordica Hot Rod Top Fuel boots, which I purchased last year. Essentially they are the same boot as the Supercharger Blower with only a slight cosmetic difference.
They are a performance boot because their basically a redressed Dobermann 130 - a recreational race boot. They have slightly softer plastic and shock eraser footboard.
I did see the boots last year at Alpsport after my purchase. I actually purchased mine online OS because I knew my size and found a great deal. I had Larry Adler's customise them with a slight forefoot expansion and footbeds. PS I supported the OZ ski industry with ski and other purchases ... lol
If your skiing in entry level boots you will notice a difference for sure, given they going to be noticeably stiffer. That transparent red plastic gets much stiffer in the cold.
There a great boot and I've been very pleased with them. There supportive and well designed and thats comforting when you stack.
I find they can tend to chew your insteps on entry / exit as another review on the net states. I always separate the plastic getting into mine coz I have a medium height instep and have no problems.
The Speed Machine 14 is slightly less expensive and has an easier different entry / exit design.
Performance wise they would be fairly close to the Top Fuels - most people wouldn't notice the difference !
The epic ski forums http://forums.epicski.com/ are a good source of info too.
Cheers
