The day started off blue bird and windy, then gradually the fog came in and visiblility was fairly limited with flat light.

As we got to the V8 for first run it was closed due to wind, which proved temorary, though we'd already made it over to the quad to have it close as we got there, also due to some extreme wind, so we caught, what I think was Sturt T-Bar up and scooted as far over as we could and caught leichhardt or lawson t bar up (only vague as i have no idea of the names of any of those t bars!) and headed over to the Triple. About half way up some fairly strong gusts of wind came across and eyre looked like a white dust storm with snow swirling everywhere. Bear had rung and said there were nice stashes out wide but it was very wind scoured closer to the T Bar.

We decided to ski the more sheltered Sun Valley and had some nice runs through there, catching up with Bear and Cabby at the bottom of Sun Valley and did a few runs then headed in for Hot Choccy at Mid station. Quad was still closed, so we were debating where to go when it started running very slowly again so we decided Interceptor would be the go.

With my Aura's (fat skis) in being fixed, I was on my "all mountain" skis Volkl AC3's with a much narrower waist and it was taking me a while to get used to that again, it's been nearly 2 years since I skiied on them. SO I proceded like a gumby up and down interceptor for a little while on the first run up we'd noticed a slab slide, quite deep, about 50cm, but not very big about 5 x 10m. It had slid about 20-40m leaving a large gap which Patrol had marked off. It took us a moment to realise it was a slab slide that had broken up, I've got pics but connection is too low to upload.

BH and Cabby went wide towards North P Tbar and apparently it was pretty good and semi untracked.

Snow quality was a bit weird, nothing I've ever really experienced here before, or elsewhere. it was light and uncompressed but a bit wet on top, so turning off piste was interesting!!

that was it for us, cabby and Bear headed over to Eyre again instead of coming in for lunch and said it was pretty sweet.

Chicco is cooking us dinner yum yum while mia mafiosa plays games with a friend of mine before we head out to Jimmy Barnes.

Pics when we get home

A bit of a mixed bag today at Perisher, though I was a bit out of sorts after leaving my jacket and home and still trying to shake the remnants of the flu. Should have taken a bigger dose of cement when I first got up. Anyway, hired a jacket as it was pretty cold and very windy. Visibility was excellent with stunning blue skies and sunshine. They had the snow guns going most of the morning.

Looked like they had the triple on Mt P going, but after waiting ages for the quad to open we decided to give Mt P a miss and headed to Interceptor. Kaz and Bear headed for the trees, which ended up being a poor choice. I had a sneeking suspicion it might be and stuck to the groomers, which were rather good, though firm and still needing a bit more snow in places.

Cruised down to Pleasant Valley at Blue Cow and dropped down Rollercoaster. Skied the Ridge, which was nice up top, but not the best at the bottom. Zali's was my pick of the day with lots of soft snow on the top half. After a hot choc stop went on to Guthega. I never tire of the view on the trail that goes there. Not sure what the runs there were like as I'm still having trouble with a dodgy knee that's not too fond of T-bars, so I took another break before leaving Kaz, Bear and Cabby and heading back.

Guthega was lots of fun after lunch SW, it had softened alot from earlier in the morning. We did loops of Blue Cow T...not much turning was to be seen ;) And the girls always made it to the lift first graemlins/cold.gif Then the softies *cough Bear* needed a chair so we did a few runs on Zalis, still nice snow but getting icy in the normal patches.

Hung out at BC bistro catching up on the goss with some friends waiting for the skikid who had the bestest day ever with her little girlfriends, while the others headed home.

Was fun after about 11, still need alot more snow.

Good stuff SC. My knee just didn't want to play. I went shopping after the gang had collected their stuff and departed. Just purchased some new gloves at last!!! Why did the most expensive ones in the shop have to be the best fit and the most comfy? The +1 was buying them for me as a belated birthday present, but he'll die when he sees the price tag! Might have to contribute 50% myself LOL!

I thought about that SA, but was having enough trouble remaining coordinated standing taking a pic of the slide! graemlins/big_laugh.gif I fell over after I put the camera back in, absolute shocker

Apparently sunday was much better, I was being a tourist with a friend who doesn't ski, wish I'd done tourist sat and skiied sunday, but oh well! heading down in a couple of weekends again.

Have pics, and of Jimmy Barnes concert too, which was surprisingly brilliant! will post once I've done some work ;)

Thredbo was indeed good on Sunday. Not the best top to bottom snow quality or wind drifts I've had there but more then enough wind with cold temps to keep the top half of the mountain fresh, dry and very carvable :D

True Blue and Little Beauty though were not anywhere near their best though on Sunday. Snowmaking, lack of grooming and warmer temps the day before followed by a cold night made for some very crusty skiing on True Blue and Little Beauty, once was enough to learn my lesson!

Left compact camera at home unfortunately so no skiing pics :shakes head: Must remember next time.

Slide from the side

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x242/podlettte_/P1080937.jpg

Loking to the top of the slide, starting point is partially filled in with windblown snow, so an unstable area between the 2 rocks basically.

what would a trip report be without some punter action (The world would be a boring place if we were all the same!)

A few fights at a Jimmy Barnes concert? Who would have thought.. :D

Podlettte
06-07-2009, 06:01 PM
It was the young stupid kids who started a couple of fights. We were standing towards the middle of the stage and about 2-3 rows back, and 2 guys and 2 girls were jumping up and down, which would have been ok if they didn't land on us every 2nd jump then say oh sorry, it's not us, it's the guys, they are pushing us. The guy next to us asked them to stop or tone it down at least, they could barely stand. They pushed into my friend, we both asked them if they could try not to bump into us, then one of the girls said "you don't own the dance floor" A) what dancefloor? B) no one does, neither do you. She then grabbed my friends glasses and took off!

They weren't normal glasses, and she needs them to see for everything, reading, computer, driving etc and they are transition lenses so go to sunnies. I was so mad! stupid cow!

didn't get them back, but made a report to the police with a description of the girl, so if you are out there chick, hand them into JIndy police! and you're a selfish cow!

Good night other than that though!

Barnesy was up at Perisher today, he opened the door for me to get out and go home this afternoon!!! I didn't realise who it was until I looked up to say thankyou, and he just said 'your welcome' in the sexiest voice I've ever heard!!! graemlins/snow_cool.gif well, in a very long time, but then again, I've never spoken to Sean Connery in person ;)

Do you have a better angle of the slide? I mean in relation to the slope? taken from the chair maybe, or the other side? or below?

Camoman
06-07-2009, 08:25 PM
From the chair, these are my clearest. I was intrigued by the way the snow was laying in so many really squared off chunks and holding its form!!

There was a rock just below your first photo which ahd the crack around and below it that I mentioned earlier... spread across towards the chair line and some other rocks.

Podlettte

the one in the pics? as you go up Interceptor chair it was to the right above midstation.... roughly 1/3 to half way between mid station and top station

you mean bear chested? why not, I'm feeling flat, I could do with a pick me up, and the thought of Kazs emptying those ice cream cones before they were resurrected to a loftier calling always gives me a chuckle.

Or perhaps a shot of him fishing? (with his fish (ing) net?)
