I am thinking about going on our first trip overseas to Italy, France and Spain. I was wondering if anyone can tell me of a good airline and or places to stay or how to get around. I've never been overseas before there will be 2 adults and 2 children but I think my children now class as adults 14 and 11. All ideas greatfully recieved.

I am hoping that qantas would be a last resort I'm a bit concerned about their aviation record.

Singapore Airlines has an excellent repuatation flying to Europe.
11 yr old is still a child. 14 yr old is adult.

pfft , airines are pretty much all the same,
lets know your budget first and where you want to fly to , then we can work out a potential preference.
As your kids are older than 2 its full fare all the way .
The sooner you book the cheaper it is

We would like to do Barcelona to check out Gaudi's work +1 is fasinated with his work. France we would love to head up to Paris checking out Monets garden and other gardens as well. Rome is a must as my son is an ancient history freak. I was thinking about spending 21 days over there and flying into say Rome or Barcelona then driving up to Paris and then exiting from either Rome or Barcelona which ever one we didn't arrive at. Cheap flights would be great as we would rather spend money on entry to the sites. Instead of staying in hotels we would like to know of any apartments to rent. Its all a new experience as we have never been overseas. +1 has been to PNG but on business. Thinking September next year.

thats right xena , discount child fares , forget it.
Hey SA sounds great,
maybe you want to start a thread in the travel section, some good advice there. If your driving over there it will be a new experience for you by the sound of it , and not easy for first timers to get used to the other side .
If youre in a position to book the outbound and return flights , do it soon , and fill in the rest of the details later . You are right in getting the cheapest flights, sheesh its only 24 hours or so, if you cant sleep then stay up !! , and spend the money you save over there.
