in Lahore, Pakistan.
this is the first time extremists have attacked the countries national sport, it will be very interesting to see how the civilian population of pakistan reacts to this.
Did anyone see the enough rope eposide with Imran Kahn, who is trying to become prime minister of pakistan and said that terrorists will never attack cricket because there would be such public outrage that it would do them more harm than good.
I dont think any teams will be touring Pakistan for a while.

:(
terrorists are such cowards. Regardless of whether it was a cricket team or not it just shows that they are gutless by attacking unarmed people.
Hopefully your average pakistan cricket fan will be so outraged that they'll hunt these clowns down and hang 'em high.

Couldn't believe it when I read it on the age before.
No team will tour there for years now.
They are supposed to be co-hosting the 2011 world cup.
Can't say I would be in a hurry to buy tickets for those games. :(

er um if you watched the four corners on Pakistan you will see unfortunately the real and major issues that Pakistan is going through.
Pakistan for many years now has been gradually undermined by extremists , particularly the taliban who have been systematically taking over towns and cities ( particularly in the outer provinces ) and now infiltrating cities big time .
Lahore is one that is already extremely comprimised. The four corners report used pakistani undercover reporters and crew to go into the Taliban provinces and cities and film .
Its systemic ethnic( read religious) cleansing , where all opposition , moderates , intelligencia are either killed or driven out of cities and towns and the military effectively dont go in to them any more.
The root of this was laid down over the last 30 years with the 800+ madras schools where only the Koran was taught to many many kids and nothing else. Whilst many of these schools were not radical at the time , there are literally thousands of kids grown up knowing nothing else but the Koran , Infidelles and no balanced view of anything in the world.
The Taliban effectively control over 25% of Pakistan and are well organized. Its a very very scary situation , and without some massive intervention a far far bigger problem that Afghanistan ,
This attack in Lahore was inevitable and will likely yield that large city to Taliban control within months effectively.
Its a very worrying situation , the recent Mumbai attacks eminated from Lahore as an example.
Time for the moderate islamists to make a united stand against these thugs hiding under the guise of religion.

Seems justfied that we have cancelled/postponed tours there for this very reason over the last three years.

u r right skimax, pakistan as it is now does not have long left, the military is the only organisation left that is strong enough to make a stand and even they are being infiltrated.

I just saw a headline on smh that they planned to kill them 1 by 1. Gotta feel for them. I also herd on nova this morning that the australian team still plan to travel for the upcoming one day series. I couldn't guess how many of them would even whant to travel.
If Pakistan is taken over by these crazies, what might they do with nuclear missiles?

I tink you will find all Pakistan internationals to now be played in a neutral venue.
