and, because I'm a girl who likes to give gifts that I'd like to receive, and because my family won't ever buy me those sorts of gifts, I just bought two of the ones I really wanted, hee hee.
FROM "NEST" at Rhodes Homebush
PIZZA STONE
who'dathunk a little bit of cerfamic could make such a difference. For $14.95 it is a bargain and makes homemade pizza taste better than the local Italian! So, one of those for sister-in-law, brother and us! Then topped them up with the accessories: funky pizza plates, yeast, bread flour a recipe and a pizza cutter. Still only around $35!!
HOME COOKING
Bought 8 bright red spotty bowls for $5. Will fill them with christmas baking, tie em up all purdy and that's the neighbours and teachers done (ok, there'll be something else for the teachers).
Cooler bags, tea cups and kids spatula/cooking sets
FROM ABODE PENSHURST ST CHATSWOOD
Candles and storm lamps, gorgeous soaps (yum yum), more candles, cushions and a lovely outdoor pot
CAMPER CHATSWOOD
three pairs of shoes for me graemlins/cold.gif
TARGET
Rip sticks on sale, but now they tell me they want the new razor skooter with wings!!! ay ay ay
NEWCASTLE
BLUE STAR TRADING
picture frames, outdoor pots. Exy shop, but if you look around there are a few bargains.
Well done.
The girl at the jewellery shop thought I was kidding last weekend. When I said I was looking for ideas of things to get in a last minute rush on Christmas Eve.

My bro used to own a jewellery shop in the Junction and from midnight the day before christmas eve he would drop his prices by about 10% an hour. So, if you had the energy to risk waiting til 4, you could pick up a real bargain (as long as someone hadn't beaten you to it at three!!).
cute idea. It became very popular, but even then, people would try to haggle, like he'd been given the stuff and was actually ripping them off by charging just over cost price...he got over them all and sold his shop. Now it's Gloria Jeans!!!
I know the shop. I used to like Kasumba across the road when it was more exclusive and like the run of the mill Jewllers.

hey legsie baby - put a movie ticket in that hoem cooking bowl for them teachers - they'd like that me reckons - bedtime - swayin....weeeeeeeeee!
Whats a pizza stone? Sounds like a good gift for +1.
I detest shopping when I'm told to (Xmas/birthdays) I like to buy at the spur of the moment (or if a good sale/bargain comes along), but I have to make an effort to keep em happy.
+1 bought song star but she doesn't know the PS2 is playing up- maybe a new one at after xmas sale.
Pink Princes is all sorted; roller blades, snorkel and fins, giant My Little Pony soft toy and a bike.
Family Xmas party boy pressy is coverd (1boy 1girl gift)-remote control tarantula.
I need to take PP to get mum(+1) something? And I need to get her..? I'm open to ideas, Legolas?
Legolas
29-11-2008, 08:19 AM
remote control tarantula!!!! I want one!
I've asked for a gym bag that isn't ugly.
Just go to one of those kitcheny shops spaz and ask about a pizza stone. They are just a disc of clay or ceramic. You heat them in the oven while you make the pizza then slide pizza onto it (so a big flat wooden paddle for sliding would be decadaent too...but we survived without it...just). The ceramic draws out the moisture so your base isn't doughy. You get an airy, crispy pizza without having to burn the top. ANd best of all, they are cheap! :D
How's your head X?

Last birthday for 12 yr old girl, I got a digital camera - you can get the Samsung S860 for $78 atm - good little starter camera - she loves it and has started making her own movies with video footage and still shots from it, with Movie Maker - a big hit!

I've finished my Christmas shopping too. Well, all except for my brother, but he's a nightmare to buy presents for so he's getting money this year.
Best present is for my 13 year old niece. She wants one of those Pandora bracelets. Firstly, it's really nice. Secondly, it means I can spend the next few years giving her charms to go on it instead of agonising over what to buy a teenage girl!
Unlike you Legs, I'm not into buying new shoes, however my present for myself is a pair of those snow spikes for my boots when I go to Japow.

Thanks Xena she got a camera for a birthday present and it was great. Maybe she is just spoilt as she seems to have everything. Christmas gets harder every year. The bracelet sounds like a great idea.

Ok Legs, here is a hard one, guy 19, has too much money, buys what he wants, does not drink, believes in NO sex before marriage, helps other kids in the district, plays sport and has EVERYTHING!
But PM me your postal address, cause Santa has a special little thing here in Canberra for you. Real Christmassy!
Good bottles of wine for sister and brother in law.
Next door neighbours get the Grand Turbo BBQ, which is only a year old, as they look after Kozi when we are not at home.
Mum and Dad, wine!
Niece 24, going to get engaged next year, house to be bought, so I think a bank account with some $$$$$$ in it.
Hubby? Well I will not go into what he wants!
He got new skis, that are waiting for him in Utah, with graphics of a nude lady! Not me!
Uh ho, got to go, cuppa time.

Hey skijax...that's a tricky one. I bought my brother a completely useless, uber modern stainless steel thing that twirls in the wind.
No sex before marriage? hmmm..geee...he sounds like a fun and crazy guy, but I just can't think up anything useful

maybe it's about time I said "Hi" again..been really busy since the snow... house stuff and so forth
My kids are getting a swimming pool for Xmas.... don' ask me how, it's sitting in the yard waiting for the excavator man to dig a big hole.
Of course at this time of the year, the pool fence has to come from QLD, about 10km from our old house, and the coping tiles have to come from Fremantle. Figure the freight costs on that!!
Wildman has had whooping cough, the Munga has had suspected whooping cough and Mum has had enough. At least they had the decency to wait till winter was over!! We have had one day this whole term with no kids at home. Ok that's enough... it's the first day of Summer, which means only 6mths till winter.
My Xmas shopping is all but done, have been busy making Mac photobooks for everyone... win win, fun for me and nice for the recipients!
Oh, and we just named our house.
Chill Hill... watcha think?

Snowhite's idea of a subscription for someone rocks, and I highly recommend delicious magazine.
Pods, pizza stones are $9 at Peter's of Kensington, or $14 at Nest in Rhodes (theirs has a pizza cutter thrown in). Spoil yourself.

As for the good ole glory box, I never intended on getting married, so mine was called the 'moving out box'. Which was in fact the toy box my dad made for me when I was a little kid. So for a few years it became the moving out box and now it's reverted to being my toy box. In the summer months that's where the ski boots, helmet, goggles and stuff live. :D
Just had a thought.....didn't some people call the glory box a hope chest?

True SA, but I have to confess it's not such a bad idea. I started collecting stuff from the age of about 18. My family never knew what to get me as gifts, so I started getting together bits and pieces like cutlery, mixing bowls, coffee mugs, tea towels, utensils, etc. By the time I moved out of home I had about half of the stuff I needed, which in my case was a relief as the flatmate I had was useless in the kitchen, had bugger all herself and lived on takeaways.
I think it was about the same vintage as a dowry of 2 pigs/cows/[insert choice of livestock]

Whatever you call them they aren't a bad idea (boxes full of stuff for when you move out or set up a place) I've got nearly a cupboard full of stuff plus various chairs (indoor and outdoor) and gardening stuff all still at mum and dad's, no where for it to go in a 1 bedroom that's already set up but will come in useful at some point.

FWIW, I started collecting it when I was 18. Between t he 18th, 21st and a wedding, we have a few bits now. I still look at it longingly in shops, but must confess it is blardy heavy to use, clean and store. I always end up grabbing one of the other pans (which now happen to be "All Clad" thanks to my win a few weeks back. Beeeeeeaaaaaudifull.
My best le creuset story is from when I lived in Newtown. My neighbour found one in a back lane "chuck out". The handle was broken and it was chipped. Whoever chucked it didn't know about the lifetime guarantee. They replaced it with a brand new one!!!
